Love Illustrator. But Photoshop is next on my list.

Photoshop is for editing pictures.
Illustrator is for creating vector graphic.
These are two very different areas. Nothing is worse or better.

If just the integration of the web elements could be improved, from AI to PSD, I could surely improve my designs too.
Some kind of shadows, strokes, rounded rectangle (lol) and gradients are simply impossible to do with PSD.
Also is quite difficult to make a pixel perfection design in such way, cos due to the right alignments you must resize all the time your smart object, which means also throw away all your time spent to use the same sizes.
So actually I'm forced to use just PSD all the time less the logo.
And that sucks!

i think no one is not best. because each of this program have their specialty. as photoshop rarely used in imaging and maybe in logo but not that good. and illustrator are being used by illustrator and some designers for making a logo, business card and some designing process.

If I only could choose one of those two, I would choose Photoshop, as it is also possible to make vector graphics in a very moderate way there. But I love Illustrator - and especially the new CS6, were you can have multiple artboards in the same file - that really gives opportunitiess to work on different layouts while still having a great overview of the project.

Launched in 1988, Photoshop has become the one and only program for many designers today. It was originally created as a tool for photographers to edit and manage their photos - and for many people, this remains its primary use. However, due to the vast array of tools available, Photoshop is now so much more than this.
Illustrator started its life a little earlier than Photoshop in 1987 and was primarily created for the typesetting and logo areas of graphic design. Illustrator is now seen as a tool for both graphic designers and digital artists to create many different types of digital products.
