To blur the background of digital photos using Adobe Fireworks

1.Open a picture and make a copy of it in Adobe Fireworks
2.Using the pen tool in the photo, trace the object you want to keep sharp and then go to modify-> convert path to marquee.
3.Now add a mask using the option Add a mask below the Layers panel.
4.Go to live filters-> Filter menu, and select the type of Blur you want to apply to the background.
