Hello DC :) I have a question about website contests... You should only design the required pages or you should also code it?
Thanks in advance

Hi Mimoza,

It all dependes on the ContestHolder and the Contest itself.

I'd just say: Ask all the questions that are needed during the contest process, ask for clearification, ask for further information on the products expectations .. and so on. If you think the prize worth the effort .. just go for it! (and I'd advice you to give a little bit extra than expected :) ..) ..

So, that's it ...
Some contests are just for the overall design, some for the assets or graphic elements, some for a fully functional theme ... it all depends.

Good luck and success,
Regards,

DesignContest offers to its clients design only. But if you can produce coded product when you win the contest it will be a plus. The more the client is satisfied with your work, the higher are the chances he will hire you directly for work on other projects.

Hello jpbituin,
For web design contests ideally (according to my xp) you should send a well organized layered PSD*.

However the CH may request specific format files or complementary files in the brief, or while giving some feedbacks.
So that's why it is important to read the brief carefully and ask the CH for clarifications when necessary, so the contest may result in a successfully ending for the CH as well as for designers.

Nevertheless, all the aditional files you could provide to the CH I'm sure he will appreciate it.
(vectorized logo, fontfamily file, etc)

Regards and success,

(*) well formed layered PSD (suggestion) = each graphic elements that can be translated into an HTML/css independient element must be in a separated layer .. all texts must be in separated layers .. all the effects that can be replaced by a CSSn attribute must be in separated layers, an so on ...

Good post - Thanks for the information on this - I have been wondering about that as well. To date, I haven't entered any website contests because I thought we had to provide code as well. Good to know most contest holders only need a layered photoshop file (psd) for the design. Any native auxiliary files that were created that are used in the design such as logos, icons or buttons, etc. (that might have been created in illustrator) can also be provided as an extra if not requested.

Hi guys, I just want to know what file format should be send in case you win on a website design contest? Does the contest holder need the codes? or is it just the buttons and banners etc in vector format? Thanks! :)
