Ever enter a contest, receive a pretty decent rating, to then find out your entry was eliminated by CH? I've even seen some contests where every entry ended up being eliminated towards the end of the contest except for the winning design. All that work and valuable rating points lost.
Do you think there could be a way Contest Holders could 'hide' entries in their contest that they rated and are no longer interested in instead of just eliminating them? Maybe a folder they could place entries in that they no longer want to see. I'm guessing some CH's eliminate rated designs because they are no longer interested in the design and don't want to keep seeing it to avoid confusion and make it easier for them to focus on designs they are trying to decide between. But with that, it frustrates designers to work with a CH making revisions, getting decent ratings, and in the end their entries (and rating points) are just deleted.
What are your thoughts on this?
A way to save valuable rating points

I think that this would be a great idea but I am trying to figure out how we the designers would know that the CH hide our design. Because if we didn't know they hide it then we could just keep work from that same design they hide and then they could just eventually eliminate our designs because the would think we were just annoying them with the same design.

PaintedPony, take that as you never enter the contest, or you did, but entry never got points.
The theme is killer... the worst for me lately was Paws for Thoughts, even I understand CHs at that point, it was annoying to see your entries going up and down on a daily basics, and then being eliminated one by one. The worst thing was I had no clue why my design was rated at the first place and then being eliminated, never got the feedback with revision or any direction (f.e. don't like the font, element, try to do this or that).
No proper and constructive feedback whether I am rated or eliminated is the most frustrating thing here.

I know what you mean Babba. We are all here to assist the CH and offer our time and talents to provide them with the best design to suit their needs. Contest Holders should utilize their resources (that they are paying for) to their advantage by providing feedback/comments and ratings. A lot of CH do (we love them!), but a lot do not. You are exactly right, if you worked with a CH, made revisions, got good ratings to then have your entry just eliminated in the end...what did you gain from that contest? Not even the rating points you worked so hard for.
You bring up some good points Squewheet. Maybe the rated entries CH is no longer interested in, could be moved to a folder that designers could also see. Once your design has been placed in that folder, you would know it was no longer in the running. As it is now, if CH eliminates your entry, you definitely know it is no longer in the running and at the same time, you lose your points (unless CH keeps another one of your entries that was rated). As it is now, if CH deletes a rated entry, you lose those points. At one point the CH liked the entry enough to give it a decent rating and it is disappointing to then just have it deleted/eliminated/trashed. :-/ Just trying to think of a way to avoid that so designers still retain points. Not all CH eliminate rated entries, but quite a few do. The folder could also be useful to the CH in case they want to be able to refer back to a previous entry for comparison, but they wouldn't have to keep seeing the design on their contest page. hmmmm....something to think about....
