Here in my town in Michigan, USA, it's anywhere from $3.29-$3.49 per gallon. I put a little less than half a tank in and it cost $28.

It is a little ridiculous at the moment. I filled up luckily on Monday (for $2.69/gallon) before the prizes soared - but was out of town at the time so spent all of that fuel driving back home. Here at the moment it's 3.29, and that's on a military base where its usually much lower. The neighboring town is at 3.79, and rising :(

As a side note - I do hope that any of our members & their families located in that area are safe and were able to get out before all of the chaos started.

PS: I might have to loose 50 pounds to get the 50 miles top out of it for one charge...

its around $2 per litre in england too, so that works out at $6 something per gallon.
I hear a lot of Americans complaining about gas prices, I normally just smile and shake my head, its dirt cheap here compared to where I lived before, and in a lot of states, there are people filling up their tanks.. then paying more for a gallon of water, and grumbling about the gas but taking being charged a ridiculous amount for water with a smile. I really dont get that.

Agreed...here we are all driving with half or quarter filled..you know because of that my car was broke and mechanic warned me to drive always at least with half filled otherwise the particles in the bottom of the gas tank will obstruct the gas pump again, :)...

There are a few places in the US, that are price gouging... charging $8.99 per gallon. Gas prices are bad enough without people trying to take advantage of the tradgedy of Hurricane Katrina. All hopes & Prayers to those families that have lost anything.
