well i have learned that logos are better made in illustrator but the amazing effect that photoshop gives can not be made in illustrator. so is it okay to make logos in photoshop ?

There is nothing Photoshop will do, that is not achievable in Illustrator. However, some projects does not require vector outputs, such as video or most web graphics. But when you are asked to provide logos and similars in vector format, it is for a good reason. It's SCALABLE to infinity, and should look equally good, small or large, and it prints very well, which does not hold true for PS images. Also, a design must look good, without the "amazing" stuff you mention. Simple and beautyful!

Illustrator is much better option. You can create vectors in photoshop but they are clunky and complicated for contestholders plus once you add all the "effects" and other options from photoshop styles the design then becomes a raster file and logos are required to be 100%vector.

Illustrator is definitely the way to go. A logo can be used in more ways than what the contest holder anticipates in their brief. The logo you create needs to be ready to meet the challenges - from business card to billboard - vector is the way to go. Sometimes the effects that can be created in Photoshop can make a logo overly complicated. While glowing edges is kind of a cool effect, how practical will it be as a black and white/greyscale logo? Just think about the effects that look cool, and consider how logo-appropriate they are.

Illustrator for logos is much better, the way vectors work is just better than Photoshop, though you can always export your vectors as an smart object to photoshop if you need to make another kind of adjustments or effects.

Very nicely put. I start with all of my logos being done in Illustrator and then IF the client requires something a little varied (effects and stuff) for print or whatever then I import the logo as a smart object and make the adjustments. I always try to do what the client asks for.

AI is the best for design logos, because you create a vector that is better for resize the logo without losing quality. For example if you need to aplly the logo in a big outdoor you have the vector so the logo will fit perfectly in the outdoor.
