Designers do not work in a vacuum. They must produce files that can be shared and adjusted as needed. The program must be widely supported. That means that special third party plugins can be used for special situations and requirements. One program has emerged as the heavy weight champion, Illustrator.

Criarty,there is a great Spanish graphic designer named Alex Trochut, who says he still uses Freehand to design. I leave a link ,so you can see what he does.

Corel Draw is a good for complex 3D objects for logo. In Illustrator later, when You are save your product as EPS form Corel, you can go on Release Cliping mask and paint in gradient colors too.
Ilustrator is a good for nocomplex logo, silhouette-trace image options for logo, but need to redesign with direct selection tool-the corrections.

Illustrator is a good for manipulation with color modes-sometime we must create a logo ideas in RGB,CMYK, Grayscale, Black and White. Sometime we wrong with making black and white as JPEG when we convert a logo project, but that is not a problem in Illustrator because we can do as vector in all color modes, and do the logo design in possible one color too. This option Edit-Edit Color-and choose the color mode. We can use 1,2,3, colors optionally. Good for working!
