I would prefer desktop. Easy to work and easy to upgrade.
I used proportion monitor in designing.

14" LCD Monitor
1gb Video Card
3gb RAM
3.0 ghz Processor AMD
500GB HDD

Definitely desktop, I wouldn't see a thing on a laptop screen for all the opened palettes and panels and stuff :-).

I prefer a desktop computer rather than laptop. It is ok working on a laptop unit if you got the highest speed.

Desktop:
3.0 Ghz Processor AMD XII
4gb RAM
1 tb HDD
2gb Video Card
