PANTONE are colors that are already mixed, while CMYK is cyan, magenta, yellow, and black and those 4 colors are mixed together to make all sorts of different colors. It's basically used for off-set printing. PANTONE is perfect to use when you either print with 2 colors or less, and/or if you want a color be look consistent

I would like to buy one Pantone book, not sure which one would be the most useful to me, since they are expensive to me at this moment.
If you have a tip, please share it.

Pantone - DESIGNER FIELD GUIDE Solid Coated

The pantone catalogs are usefull if you´re trying to get a client to choose a color but its not always easy to get the exact color on a final print, but with a pantone catalog at least you have a reference to go by, the difference between the Solid Coated and Uncoated its the gloss so as a reference you can use either one.

For spot colors: Pantone Solid coated is good to have when you want to check what the color looks like on paper. There is also an uncoated version which is almost like coated, but it shows colors to be less vivid on paper. But if you only could pick 1 book from the 2, then coated would be fine (as long as you remember uncoated colors will show a little less vivid on paper)

For cmyk color: Color Bridge (Pantone solid to process) is good when you want to match what a spot color will look like on paper using cmyk.

Thank you very much!
I think I am going for Coated Color Bridge. Uhhh, there are to many out there, many types, many version, old, new, etc...
Hoping Pantone GG4003 will not be a huge mistake.
I really need see the actual colors "in the hand", not on the screen, as they are quite different, and of course to match the CMYK.
Do you use any of the books?

You are welcome, and good choice!
I do not own any books but I have used them before from a print shop

Go to you swatches color library, and select Color Book, there are Pantone's. However, maybe you will need a new update (which I don't have, btw).
I never heard for Pantone Emerald 17-5641 - I guess it is new color. Here are some info with the cmyk: 2013 Pantone Color of the Year and Its Harmony with RGB & CMYK.
