There are many sites where you can get fonts from, which have been displayed in previous posts. However when designing a logo I very rarely use a font straight as it comes... Try looking at the letterforms and adjusting or altering it slightly. This will set your font apart from any other and your client will be happy knowing they have been given something unique.

I recently posted a design where I altered some text using blurs and it turned out pretty cool. Before adding the blur, I messed around with some gallery effects that also turned out pretty well. As long as you don't rasterize the text you can edit the text and keep the effects. Combining a minimal gallery effect with a blur produces a pretty cool effect on text.

Everyone saying dafont, I disagree.
These are fonts designed by everyone - and are far away from a complete set of fonts.
This is not regarding EVERY font you see, but a lot of them.
If you use a different language than english and have a alphabet with more letters than the normal 26 ones, you're gonna have a problem if you would like to use the same font for more text than just the logo.
For example, if I'd like to write something in my native language with these letters in them: æøå
i would have a problem if the font doesnt have them. And a lot of missing stuff like numbers, special characters like punctation, comma, question mark etc etc.
Pay for your fonts, they are the best.
For a free webfontpage i like losttype.com
