I think I need your help.

I'd love to learn how to get more creative with text effects in Illustrator, but I learn from taking things apart to see how they were created. It helps to see the desired result before I even start so if I hit a wall, I'll be more patient and persistent in following through til the end. Otherwise, I get discouraged. Hope that makes sense.

Any chance there are vector files available online with various text effects that I can take apart and learn from. Any feedback or guidance is sincerely appreciated.

Thank you

Thank you Meow. I love the Golden Text with Diamonds. I'll try to use it in some of my poster designs. :)

Try using graphic styles on your text. Be sure to turn to outlines first, then play around with the appearance menu for that graphic to change the colors or add another fill.

I like to add a fading effect to my text. Create outlines of your text, flip it horizontally, then add a gradient that goes from light gray to white. It will appear like your text shadow is fading away.

Speaking of text effects, what is the best way to preview your text before choosing one? When using the drop down menu, there is only a list of the font names. It would be very helpful to actually see what the text looks like while trying to select one that matches your design theme.
