I think I need your help.
I'd love to learn how to get more creative with text effects in Illustrator, but I learn from taking things apart to see how they were created. It helps to see the desired result before I even start so if I hit a wall, I'll be more patient and persistent in following through til the end. Otherwise, I get discouraged. Hope that makes sense.
Any chance there are vector files available online with various text effects that I can take apart and learn from. Any feedback or guidance is sincerely appreciated.

A better way is to follow tutorials instead like the ones in this link:

Speaking of text effects, what is the best way to preview your text before choosing one? When using the drop down menu, there is only a list of the font names. It would be very helpful to actually see what the text looks like while trying to select one that matches your design theme.
