Hi DesignContest stuff
firstly You must define a specific period for competitions. and also a time to choose a winner...for example, the other site of freelance without saying names maximum 7 days.. If the contest holder want to extend her competition it must also increase the price... because it is not reasonable to join in a contest for 15 days. and do a lot of change for the contest holder and in the last day it adds another 10 days or more... need to wait 1 month or 2 months to choose a winner. and finally do not choose you... It is not logical
and also when someone wins a contest. and there send the final files in the contest holder. need than the designer automatically receive the price after 7 days to send final files without the contest holder pay the price
and excuse me for my English and also thanks in advance

please tell me why the contest prize should increase when a contest is extended? The contestholder already pays to extend the contest why increase the prize as well? Think about why the contestholder is extending the contest? The ch extends the contest for a several reasons but the main reason is because the entries are not what they want or like yet.............

I understand both sides of this issue– though I did want to shine light on one thing I feel is portrayed unfairly.. That is the idea that because the CH is paying a certain amount that that given amount needs to guarantee them exactly what they want. I'm sure many designers work differently. But if I could draw a parallel to my work with clients on a freelance basis.
When I work under contract with a client, that contract includes in it a project deadline. This is obviously meant to supply security for both the designer AND the client. If the contract deadline needs to be extended past the original date because of excess requests for changes outside the normal circumstances/brief changes/etc, those are charged at an additional hourly rate.
What I'm saying is that even in a one on one hire situation where a client is paying a similar amount for a logo with only one designer providing options, there are charges for extensions/excessive alterations after a direction is decided. Here they're getting hundreds of designs by dozens (many very qualified) designers. So I don't think it's an entirely outrageous thing to suggest there should be some compensation for the designers in that circumstance, after all, we are still providing hours of work.
Sorry for rambling on:) I realize contest sites aren't exactly black and white when it comes to these issues but it could be worth looking at.
