In my general opinion less is more when it comes to gradients. Intense gradients can sometimes cheapen or clutter a logo. However, if your goal is to make something stand out with a gradient the best bet is to go with a broken gradient (aka use a gradient in the text and then do an overlay-maybe arcing, through the middle). Also rule of thumb for me is one color with an almost white or almost black version of that color at the end. Watch what colors you use if you do decide to use more that one in the spectrum because they can get muddied in the middle. Good luck!

You can create a powerful gradient with 5-6 colors maximum in Corel or Illustrator if you work with logos. To add a colors in Illustrator click on the line in gradient tool left click and if you drag in some position near the second colors, you will have a gradient effect. You have radial, linear and other effect in gradient options. Dont forget a angle, because he is a good for gradient.

In AI - I usually use a 3 tone gradient - Light to medium to dark color combo of the same hue. I also like to overlay a second fill in the appearance menu and change the blending mode, sometimes I use a pattern for an added "texture" effect. Also explore the gradients in the Graphic Styles menu. Good luck!

I would use a 3 tone gradient, then in th Appearance menu add a "New Fill" try using a metal gradient and set the blening mode to "overlay"
