why Macromedia Freehand is not popular anymore? I've used this software for vector graphics work and I enjoy the simplicity of the tools.

Freehand is no longer popular because its last release was more than 10 years ago

Adobe bought-out Macromedia and integrated Freehand's features into Illustrator

well, maybe sometime The Adobe wanna adopt Freehand into "Adobe Freehand"
