Hi Everyone !

I am wondering if anyone could help me with a few questions that I have before I enter any competitons.

I've seen that there are quite a few contests for a company called "ticketprinting.com", that are held by "mbuck"

I have read the brief and been to their personal website aswell.

Here are my questions for both parts:

FROM THE BRIEF:

It says that ***You are welcome to use stock imagery from fotolia.com. Our total budget for imagery is 100 credits, but the image MUST be Extended X. If an image does not offer Extended X we are unable to use it. You can download a comp for placement and then if you are chosen as the winner, I will replace the comp image in your final files with the high resolution image.

Questions:

1. How does the credits part work? Do you have to créate your own personal account and use your own credits or do they give you an account to use?

2. What do you do if the images you want don't have Extended X ? Can I use XL instead?

FROM THE WEBSITE:

1. What sizes are my poster and ticket meant to be? Are the sizes on the website meant to be "cm" or "mm" ? What do they mean when they say that they can portrait or landscape?

2. How much space should I leave for sponsor logos?

3. Where is the gutter? I can't remember at the moment!

I think those are my main questions for now, please leave any other guidelines or suggestions that you think I might need to know.

If anyone can take the time to help with these, I would appreciate it!

Bye for now, :)

You have to ask the client for some of that.
Other things are provided on his link how to prepare the files.
Regarding the stock image - download the image that has available size, later on if you are the winner client will provide the same image with high resolution. So, no - you don't need to have account, client has it and has a credits there.

You can also check his previous contests to see how others did.

Thanks for your reply.

I did think of asking the client, but I thought I would write a post on here first in case someone from the previous contests saw this first, and answered me on here instead, but no such look at the moment.

Thank you for telling me about the credits, at least I can be choosing the images I want from the website now.

Will go and look around at some of the other winners to see their designs, and see what they did.

Bye for now,

The best way is to try with it, and learn trough the process itself. Client should provide you a feedback for your work and you can ask him if everything is okay or similar questions.
I wish I could have helped you more, but I haven't worked for that client yet, even I intent to do so.

Not a problem.

Good luck!

Thanks for the advice! Will probably learn through the process as I go along. Will do my first designs the best I can, and if need to make changes then will do till I get it right !

I did write a comment earlier today, in his most recient contest, and hopefully he has answered all my questions!

Good Luck with your own designs!

Bye !!! :)
