Hey,

Just curious, does every designer here use Ps or Illustrator? Or at least an Adobe program? Or is there anyone that uses Gimp or any other image manipulating system?

Currently I use Photoshop, Illustrator and occasionally Toon Boom Studio. Depends on the job that needs doing honestly. My experience level varies from software to software also.

Would I say Photoshop is required?
Absolutely not. It is recommended however.
You can buy a subscription to the latest version of Photoshop on the Adobe website. It costs about £10 a month or your regional equivalent.

Generally for every Adobe program that exists, there are various counterparts: Gimp, Paintshop Pro (very similar to Photoshop), Toon Boom Studio (Like Illustrator and Flash combined)...
These softwares can be used just as effectively in most cases. :)
