Practice man, just practice. Find challenging tutorials online that you can follow. Never be afraid to explore Photoshop too.

YouTube, Lynda.com and I am sure there are other sites. You can get books. You can take college classes

Practice, work many tutorials and as mentioned above look up some youtube videos and then more practice, and more practice, your practice never stops with illustrator as there is always something new and or better with this program, learning curve is steep and it is a very heavy program but once you get the hang of illustrator you will will be lost without it!

I like design.tutsplus.com and creativebloq.com/tag/tutorial loads of tutorials from interesting designers. There's only one way to become an expert designer in photoshop and it's the "hard" way
