I just recently entered a contest where designers had so many good ideas, and all of a sudden there were eliminations being passed out the wazoo. The CH just like on design and only wants to work with that one designer.

How should we react to that? Is that a fair thing to do?

It's happened to everyone. And it can be very frustrating. The CH is encouraged to at least give feedback to most if not all entries, but sometimes the client falls in love with a particular design.

You've been eliminated! very painful. Good design many time eliminated without reason. Just Contest holder not like this. A poor design he rating. But many good design just eliminated. Thanks to share your pain.

At least the CH selected a designer to work with. Some just get overwhelmed by the decision process and just select the least interesting design in a downward spiral.
