I've got several pieces that I used here on contests that I didn't win.  I would like to sell various elements of these pieces on stock  sites.  Are there any  guidelines I should follow before doing so? Is this frowned upon? Do I need to completely removed the works containing  these elements from  the site? Is there anything else I should know/consider?

Thanks,

-J

HI there

the best way to decide is this way...

If the client can find it on another site? meaning if the design you entered in a contest can that client find that design elsewhere? If the design in the contest is different enough then no problem

Thank you

Thanks,  most of what I have in mind is pretty recognizable,  so I'll  just  keep it in a folder floating around here for the time being.  Just  figured it would be a good way  to  recycle some non-winning designs.

You most certainly can reuse/sell any non winning design but if you enter it into  another contest just make sure that same design is not found elsewhere on the internet

1. designers will find it and report

2. not fair to client  finding the same design elsewhere

But  as I said you own these non winning designs and can do what you want with them as long as above guidelines are followed

I was wondering if I can use my design that was not a winner and maybe redesign it, or leave it as is, and compete with it on the other design contest site? If so, should I check if it is on the internet by pasting the image URL address to google image search and if there is no my design I can use it? And do I have to withdrawn it from the closed contest? Thanks.

If your design didn't win, or did not have any prize award (did not sell it), then design is yours and you can reuse it.

Sometimes designs are totally run by the client input to match his business - meaning: client has narrowed ideas and own directed concept - so be careful with those.

If the contest is closed without selected winner then it is your obligation to withdrawn design if you want to reuse it.

I am not sure what did you mean by copying URL and google browsing. It is always good to check if such design as your own exist somewhere else.
