Hey guys,
This is my latest web design project for Indonesian Investment boards,
I've created two different design and I think I needs your advice which one is better

http://www.komunigra...s/bkpm/design1/

http://www.komunigra...s/bkpm/design2/

I am never have any formal background on communication Visual or design, So it's really hard for me to know whether I've already create a good design or choose which one is better than another (especially with a rational reason.. not just preferences)

Ok guys.. I will really appreciate your choices (and of course your reason)

Terimakasih <-- Thats Indonesian word to say "Thanks" :)

I like design #1. :) The sites are very eye pleasing and I like both, but #1 strikes me as a lot nicer for a web design. It's very clean and has nicer graphics as well, although I think something is needed to point out the navigation a little easier. Very nice!

Design 1 is better cause of the normal big banner. But isn't really special layout. Almost every company lately got bit of same layout. Bit boring but still look professional though. But you should go for number 1 and the contents should be more to the middle instead of left.

I like the first one...why?? because it looks more ordered and complete to me than the second one...moreover the use of white space is more judicious in the first one than in the second one.

I'm also a big fan of #1 vs. #2. Though it may resemble a more "standard" business site, I think that also serves as a strength. It makes people automatically comfortable with the design, and immediately understand the navigation, which is a huge plus.

There are only two suggestions I'd really make to the site's image. The first one is that the banner is over 1024 wide, which means horizontal scrolling on lots of monitors. The second would be maybe changing the red and orange background color of the banner to more of a blue to cyan. Blue is the color of trust, which is something that you may want to put an emphasis on in an investment site.

But, I think it looks very very nice. I'd like to see the final site once you're done with it!

Interesting that everyone likes #1, as do I. It's not an analytical reaction, just gut level. My eye was very pleased by the colors and images on both, but the first drew me into the content. I agree with Dalisca that you should tighten the width of the site--and I can see that you have room to do it, if you crop the banner to the end of the second column of main content. I also agree with Chung Dha about centering the layout, maybe with a 1px line border to the right and left of the content box and an unobtrusive color or gradient added to the background to set it off and make it float front and center.

I think you've done a really fine job integrating a lot of content into a user-friendly homepage.

I like Design #1 too. One of the things that makes #2 not win is that the blue shape in the middle takes too much attention. It makes me care less about whats actually written somehow. It seems like the thing that the site is trying to communicate, which isn't the case at all. The first design is more leading and moves your eyes towards the content.

As Dalisca says I feel that a blueish color would be more appropriate. I feel that the red and orange transmits a bit of a fire-feeling, maybe even as harsh as blood. Which probably isn't the best association that a company can have ^^

Good works both, but I find #1 more suiting and a better choice in this case. :D

I suppose I like design #1 as well, the layout of the content/navigation seems more orderly.

Both are nice, clean designs, though. I'd be interested to hear which one the client likes.
