What are your initials?
Might be helpful, heh. Sorry!
My initials are S J R

I like it but it is kind of hard to tell what the initials really are unless you already know them. the color scheme is great.

Coloring could be better the radius gradient is kinda too simple use of the gradients. You should use a buttonshine or even gradient net to make it special for web2.0

I only applied the gradient to show it with some color - I'm more concerned with the readability, design at the moment. This initially started as just letters, but I preferred the shape inside the circle
What other letters do you see?
Here are some other ideas I started with - none of which appealed to me very much.
Thanks

Make the J follow the bottom curve of the S without overlapping. And make them have a very close kerning but still little white between them.
Capital R can alway remove the stem and still see it is a R. Just something you should think about.
The font on the middle should work good with some adjustment. Removing some serifs.

You are thinking bit too far outside the box.
I'd tend to agree with that. I def am over thinking it. I'll work up some new ideas and try to post soon.
Thanks for your feedback, much appreciated!

Though I wanted to use my initials as the base for this - Id prefer the logo not look exactly like the letters of my initials. I believe all the proper hints and suggestions as to what letters make up my initials are there.
Of course criticism is wanted and welcomed!

I mainly got small procedure for letter form logo. First sketch anyway possible to place the letter together in small or capitals without anything changes to the letters yet only moving them or overlap and mix them all together the search which you like. Then totally abstract them each time go further and further when you are done with all look back and search for the one that pop out the most. Got tons of papers laying around with sketches of different letters mix together to find letterform logo's.
Here is idea maybe try the J with the tail going into the top of the S and the or make out of the bottom of the S. Capital R got the round bend of the bottom of the S, also aimed the same direction.
I think the J is bit the killer of this design. Hard to blend in with the other shapes.

have you tried ambigrams?
No, I haven't really tried to much with ambigrams - but thanks for the suggestion.
Here's the latest iteration, one with some color for good measure. I've made the S as readable as can be.
happy (soon to be) new year!
