Hi I'm new to DC, and i don't quite get why i keep getting this message (see image) when i try to see my own or someone elses profile or if i want to see other forums. Is it because i'm too new? What should i do?

This is because you have not got sufficient privilege. Only design team members and moderator and I am not sure but contest holders maybe too can view this. New members can't view it, till they get into the design team.
