my website is www.hackdesign.com
i built it myself using iweb
still needs alot of work
alot more coming
and the name cards scans are not great quality
what should i do?
i am very curious
and appreciate of your advice
one thing to keep in mind
i have been a designer for 15 years
for many big companies
but most of the design on the site
has been in the past years
while i have been living in asia
it is a different phase in my life
thank you

I think only thing maybe a new logo, not really liking the logo you got. Could need a redesign if you have the logo for 15 years.

it is my redesign
i like it
maybe it is the purple?
i made red and blue logos too
they look better
the name cards i made are really nice
special cut with raised coating
i might redesign my logo ever year
this is for 08 at least
i wonder how to check why it loads slow
there is a lot on there
i was thinking of making separate site for the bulk of it
and only putting my favorites and best work on there
if they want more there can be a link
thank u

It did take a little while to load, but I thought it was overall nicely organized and you have a great variety in your portfolio!
Not sure if my opinion matters much but I certainly like your work.

Well one thing I really like is the on the logo page, how you show different variations for one single company logo - there were a few I think if I were a business owner, I'd find it hard to narrow down to just one! I think my favorite logo is the Coda one.
I also loooove the personal cards. Seeing those makes me want to have one (as if I meet many strangers to hand one out to lol). I like the square ones a lot. My favorite is the one with the picture of the boy in glasses with the flip side.
I can't wait to see your site when it's updated!

i go crazy with logos sometimes
specially when i am involved in the project
forkers i also do all the artwork in the restaurant
over 20 oil paintings so far and photos
i live in taiwan
so those personal cards are mostly for foreigners living here
they use them to get teaching jobs and other freelance stuff
name cards are very big over here
it makes people remember you
i love to do it
we have an art show coming up with over 20 artists
i am doing a lot of name cards for the artists
so people at the show can take one for each artist they like
the great thing is printing is cheap here
i can make anything i want for minimum costs
i can't wait to update everything too
i am working on 3 menus right now
hope to get those up there
thanks for the interest
Wow I have to pick a single favorite? Hmmmm

Thats a good idea. I like the idea of showing development or other concepts for your work. And I think people find it interesting to see what lead to the final product. But I think you should pick a few of your very best projects, and maybe show a few sketches, a few comps and the then final outcome. So then viewers can see your process without losing the other projects in vast amounts of work. You really only need to show one final outcome for most pieces.

when we are judged for the design team
is it just our logos?
or just design?
or all our art in general?
Everything that's presented in the portfolio link is assessed, as long as it has to do with our contests (i.e. logos, websites, web banners, print designs, etc).

I can see you're going for the whole minimalistic look on it and that's great. Have you tried shortening the height of the whitespace on the homepage? that might help center the focus a bit. Good luck, and great stuff...I personally liked the ring show.

the ring show was an awesome project
i should write more about it
You got some good stuff there. Like mentioned, it did take a while to load on the gallery. Your homepage is a little on the dry side (keep in mind this is the first impression someone will get out of you).
