I had designed the original logo over two years ago and I've grown bored with it - plus it wasn't a true vector logo (I designed it in photoshop) and I didn't like how it looked when I brought it over into Illustrator. So I decided to update it a bit.

My original concept was that the eye (representing the "Insight") is also a color wheel. I kind of wanted to keep that idea, just clean it up a bit.

Criticism will be greatly appreciated!

Here is the original logo from two years ago:

Good redesign job! Definetly! I specially like the way the eye´s looking now.
I would still adjust the optical relationship between the type characters, that should get it done!

Is it "Insight" that needs adjusting? I had aligned it with "Design" based on the
"g" in Insight but I'm thinking maybe I should move the rest of the text down to align with Design.

I also had a hard time fitting that "Of CT" in there - I need it there but wanted it not very big because it's only there for legal purposes but people know us just as Creative Insight Design.

Thanks everybody for the positive feedback! I really do appreciate anything you guys say. :D

I thought something like this:

Posted Image

Kind of having a rectangle shape text block, rather than an irregular one (helps for me).
By the way... have you tried a centered symbol version? Big symbol above the logotype? I think this will look the best for this logo, because you would not hace such a long logo.

Good luck!

Ah... I see what you are saying. I will play around with it more and post what I come up with.

Thanks again!!

Here is my first revision. I did try centering the symbol but I couldn't seem to get it all to fit right like I'd like. But I did keep in mind keeping it more square and the text more evenly placed. Still having trouble fitting that "of ct" in there but hopefully this looks better. I could always squeeze the second line and fit it but I didn't like how smooshed it made that second row. idk - I like how this one turned out.

Thoughts?

You should try to replace the black with gray to make it less dark. Black 40% or 30%. Cause I kinda think it look bt too dark. "Of ct" you should make it be normal en not shrinked, make it pop out cause the other words are not aligned under the other so why should that part be.

I do not agree with Chung on this. Too grayscaled logos normally do not have a good appliance... unless you were thinking of spot colors ... which is not cheap by the way when talking on later on logo use.

Please do not distort the Type when tu change the size... always use scaling transform.

Thank you for the tip! I will definitely use the scale tool from now on. I didn't even know about it (I'm still fairly new to Illustrator). Although since the text was already saved as outlines, should I go back and re-enter it all as text again? Is it the kerning that change due to the way I had transformed it in the past?

Aside from that issue - I brought the text color back to black and adjusted everything so that it all fit more squarely together.

I like this layout the best, but perhaps you could make your symbol look more like an eye? That would be pretty cool.

I had played around with it for awhile - The original eye I had was just too complicated to successfully transfer into vector. Plus people were confusing it for a CD. But it was really meant to be an eye colored like a color wheel.

The new one is to more closely represent a paint pallet but still sorta look like an eye (but not as creepy). lol

The bottom revision definitely looks the best. My thoughts would be to keep it as is.. Sometimes when you mess around too much you begin to completely lose vision!

I agree completely! This has definitely happened to me many times.

Thank you all so much for your opinions and guidance. This message board has helped me improve a lot, I think. Perhaps some day I'll get the guts to participate in the open contests! :)
