I know it has very little to do with design, but I would still like to showoff this painting I have done for school. It is acrylics on canvas (not stretched yet), rather large one - about a meter wide. Comments?

(just wanted to mention that the colors are not quite the same in the photograph)

Great painting. Very very nice! What school do you attend?
Kinda looks like me walking my dog! Except no beard...
Anyway excellent work!

Thanks a lot! I am at Mirail University (Department of Fine Arts) in Toulouse, France. The department is actually really bad, they are too much into that conceptual art and if you want to learn painting or any other "traditional media" or whatever that is not installations or performances you have to learn it on your own.

Looks nice, but it needs a little more contrast. At least that is what my eyes are looking for...

Cheers.

The colors look more vibrant and the contrast looks much better on that last photo. That's good...

I just checked your portfolio. Your style somehow reminds me the artwork of the very well known children's book, 'Where The Wild Thing Are''.

I liked it a lot, it has a fun and a dark feeling mixed together, it is both disturbing and fun, which works well..

Keep it up.

Emir, I haven't seen the book you are talking about. But I made a quick search and I imagine that it is Maurice Sendak's "Where The Wild Thing Are'' you are talking about?

Yes resurepus, that's it! I know it is different than your style, but it somehow reminds me of it. Uhm, a cult, funny style...

Hey resurpus, your work is very nice. It's not particularly my cup of tea but you definitely have talent and a style very much your own. If you ever make it big, we'll be able to pick you out of the crowd.

Hi, Ivan, thanks for your ecouragement! I will do my best to make it big :)

there are actually some other paintings that I haven't uploaded to my website yet that are quite different. So I believe I am still looking for my own style.

Did you take a photo of the painting? How did you get such a good quality shot for us to view?

yes, it is a photo. I took it with my Nikon D40. I wouldn't call the quality excellent, but it is ok.
