My personal website have been more or less down the last year or so and I have just done a few half-hearted attempts to get it up in shape or reasonably updated...

but now when I have joined here I kind of realized the importance of a good site for myself... and not just giving away screenshots or links when people asks what I can do or what I've done...

So now the wheel are rolling and my new site is under construction.

Currently it's design and color-coding is almost done and I'm beginning to tweak it so it works with the php/database code.

Here's a 1st screenshot preview:

Excellent design. I love it; clean, simple, easy to read.

Thanks for the feedback. Yes I am pretty pleased with it so far even if things always can get better. The primary thing is to get it working and online, then I can polish the design further. My main goal was to make it look professional but yet with a big personal touch. Don't quite know if I accomplished that? What do you think?

Clean, but to me... it looks like a million other sites.

Maybe, so what do you suggest I'll do to make it more 'unusual'? How does your website or designs look like?

i would consider the font for

....
about
from the webblog
...

in the beginning i thought its not sharp or too small, but its the font.
-----------------------------------
besides the heading its to fade and grey if one scrolls a bit down.
maybe borders on the lower part?
-----------------------------------
ths scissor looks not perfect
the writing on the title "making the web a better place" is not "very clean".

the go button has the only black text.

the unsharp elements dont fit into the very straigth design.

I think for a personal website the design is too still, static, cold, no movement, no color, yet.
------------------------------------

add some color, maybe a vivid element (flash component)
some contrast.

my subjective and quick opinion.

Thanks! That was more what I was looking for, constructive critisism, something to work with since after awhile you go blind looking at the same thing... and another thing is that most of my consentration has been on the code, grid, functionallity and browser compability.

Will look into your suggestions, thanks again!

Tomas

Skipped the whole black/white thing and added some color plus that I added some more contrast to some elements... at least feels like I'm on the right track even if it doesn't (yet) feels 100%...
