I prefer Paint shop pro cause it has the best freeform tool.

I used Paint shop pro way before I found Photoshop. I learn how to edit photo and make games textures with it until I found photoshop which is more stable and less likely to crash and jump over to photoshop.
But the freeform to which able to choose the amount of grids with a superb tool compare to standerd 3 grid of photoshop which cant be altered. Unless I missed a tab where you could change it. Cause mostly the 3 is not enough and ruin allot while I just want to edit a small section instead of big sections.

Most of the programs work with each other except I have had issues with cdr files. A client will send me a file that they had done by another designer that they have no longer contact and they need it to be scalable , color change that sorta of stuff. cdr files will not open in illustrator or photshop it is VERY frustrating
It's good to know all this programs they can support each other, Illustrator and photoshop and some in Design application.

Corel Painter is the best for digital painting indeed. The software lets you get the most from your Wacom graphic tablet. Though it's not vector at all. I am not sure why this hread is in this forumPainter is the best "art software" ever.
