Project description

We need background slide images to be used with two upcoming sermon series—one on Mark 1-8 and one on Mark 9-16. The first series (Mark 1-8) will be called “Son of God” and the second (Mark 9-16) will be called “Follow Me.” We want the two designs to look consistent—like two parts of one series. Entries should have two designs: one for “Son of God” and one for “Follow Me.” We will pick a single winner based on their two designs. I will comment on entries if I really like one of the designs but not the other.

We want the “Son of God” design to communicate that Jesus is a servant king. The biblical title “Son of God” has royal connotations, but Jesus’ rule is unlike that of other kings. He doesn’t reign through exercising power, but rather through service.

We want the “Follow Me” design to communicate that following Jesus is about humble service, not seeking glory. Jesus emphasized that because his ministry was going to end in crucifixion and resurrection, following him looks like sacrificial service, not glory. If someone wants to be the greatest, he or she should seek to become a servant of everyone (Mark 9:35).

The designs do not necessarily have to use imagery from the Bible, but they can. They could allude to some of the stories from The Book of Mark, but they could also go in a completely different direction. The designs should have the sermon series titles on them (“Son of God” and “Follow Me”). I have included previous contest winners for reference. As mentioned previously, the winner will be chosen based on both designs—how strong they are individually, but also how well they go together as two parts of one series.

We need four versions of each design: (1) 30 inches wide x 20 inches tall to be displayed from a computer projector onto a wall and then later printed on to wood and hung on a wall, (2) square to be used as album artwork for the podcast, (3) 3.375 inches wide x 8 inches tall for use on the front of our printed bulletin, and (4) 851 x 315 pixels for the banner of our Facebook page.

I have attached some examples of work we have used in the past. Please let me know what questions you have!
