Project description

We need a background slide image to be used with an upcoming sermon series on the life of Joshua from the biblical Book of Joshua. The series will be called “Joshua.”

Joshua is best known for leading the military campaign to conquer the land of Canaan, especially the battle of Jericho. He functioned as a transitional leader after Moses and helped bring to fruition all the things God promised to Israel through Moses. As a leader, he was probably best known by his unwavering obedience to God and his challenge to Israel to do the same: “And if it is evil in your eyes to serve the LORD, choose this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your fathers served in the region beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.” (Joshua 24:15 ESV)

We want the design to communicate that Joshua was unwavering in his obedience to God. The battle of Jericho is so central to Joshua’s story that it should probably be alluded to in the design. (We are open to allusions to other events in Joshua’s life, but the battle of Jericho is the most recognizable.)

The image should have the title: "Joshua."

We need four versions of the image: (1) 30 inches wide x 20 inches tall to be displayed from a computer projector onto a wall and then later printed on to wood and hung on a wall, (2) square to be used as album artwork for the podcast, (3) 3.375 inches wide x 8 inches tall for use on the front of our printed bulletin, and (4) 851 x 315 pixels for the banner of our Facebook page.

I have uploaded samples of similar designs we have used in the past. Please let me know what questions you have!

  • Thank you for all of your submissions. I am still leaning toward #27, with 31 and 34 as my other favorites.
  • Dear CH, please check this options. Concept is paper cut out or shadow story telling. Just trying something different. :) Hope you will like it.

    My best,

  • I like this. It is very similar to a design we have used in the past, though. #8
    • @BelieversFellowship I will try to look for other ideas.

  • Dear @BelieversFellowship I have removed guy from design and concept is the same.

  • Operhal, I love this concept, but I am not sure of the guy that is prominent in the design. Can you keep the background battle images and swap out the prominent Joshua? #14
    • @BelieversFellowship Yes I can do that. Glad you like it.

  • Dear CH, another option for your consideration.

  • I hope you like this. #22
  • I hope you like this. #21
  • Here are the other two versions of the image, for the podcast cover and the bulletin:) #20
  • Hello BFC, my name is Eljo Perona, a student that lives in the Philippines. Here is the final design that I made, and it clearly depicts Joshua's triumph in the Battle of Jericho. On the background, it shows the collapsing walls that was destroyed by marching around and blowing trumpets. This story inspires me a lot because it reminds me that in every challenge that I face in life, God will always be there to support me. I hope you may be interested in this design, as it best represents the story of Joshua, during the battle of Jericho. I hope to use the prize money to save up for my college funds for next year:D Thanks a lot!! #19
  • As promised, here are the accompanying designs. (As these are all my own original images there are no copyright concerns). Kind regards, Liz. #17
  • Dear BFC, I have drawn the Israelites blowing their trumpets, with Jericho falling in the background, and Joshua raising his trumpet to God in triumph/faith. I have used bright colours and a modern spin to catch the eye. I have also created the accompanying podcast cover, FB cover, and Bulletin cover and will upload those next. I am always open to suggestions to improve the design, so don't hesitate to put them forward. Kind regards, Liz #16
  • Dear @BelieversFellowship please check my design and let me know what you think.
