Project description

RUM BOTTLE LABEL DESIGN: WHO DAT RUM! T2LJ Brands L.L.C. in San Antonio TX., the founder of Whispering Eye Tequila are at it again. Looking for Label Design for a basic 750 ml. Rum Bottle; to be called WHO DAT RUM! Most importantly looking for a Concept Design. WHO DAT is synonymous with Louisiana Culture, Mardi Gras, and the New Orleans Saints. The rum will be marketed as a High End Rum in four categories. (Aged, Spiced, White, and Cinnamon) WHO DAT Definition Who dat? is an English idiom originating from New Orleans. First referenced in poetry, the phrase was a common dialogue element between the performers and crowd at traveling minstrel shows in the region. Eventually, the phrase became used in US cinematic productions for two decades, including TV and movies. In World War II, the phrase became known as a source of entertainment for American soldiers. More recently, the phrase 'Who dat?' has become a chant of team support. It is most widely used by fans of the New Orleans Saints, an American football team. The entire chant is: "Who dat? Who dat? Who dat say dey gonna beat dem Saints?" "Who dat" may also be used as a noun, describing a Saints fan.

  • Hi! Thank you for hosting this contest! I came up with a couple of concepts that I hope you enjoy. Please review #1, #2, and #3 and let me know what you think. Thanks for your time! :)
    • You are very creative.. We are looking for something a little more festive probably; but we are not ruling out your entries.

    • Thank you, and don't worry about it! I'll see if I can come up with some more concepts. :) When you say "festive", do you mean something more cartoony and fun, or just steering away from seriousness in general? Would you like to see something more Mardi Gras/party themed? Please let us know if anything comes to mind. edit: Also, do you have a vertical or horizontal preference for the label? Thanks! :)

    • standard 750 ml bottle. 3 1/4 by 4 5/8 inches is the label size.

    • Hi again! Please let me know if #4 feels more like it's going in the right direction. :)

    • I do like it more, but needs more design elements.. something other than text that speaks to the who dat culture.

    • I think I have something in mind that you would like.. I'll try to draft it up later today when I have some free time! :)

    • #12 #13 I went back to my previous design and added several Mardi Gras and party-feel elements to give the label an attention-seizing appearance. My only concern now is that it might actually be TOO flashy.. Let me know! :)

  • What will be the dimensions of the bottle? How about the dimensions you would like to see the label?
    • standard 750 ml bottle. 3 1/4 by 4 5/8 inches is the label size.

  • Something kinda bold/edgy and it seems to be yelling, WHO DUH F*IS THAT RUM!? haha ;) Love New Orleans...I would like to do more variations depending upon feedback.
    • Holly, I like the edgyness of the designs you did; but it is New Orleans.. and it's Party rum.. We are looking for more creativeness from a design picture or element that is not just all text driven... This label will be on bottle 100 years from now, so it must but simple, but needs more character.. good luck. We love your flair for design, can't wait to see what else you can come up with.

    • Ok cool! I only get to upload one more entry since I'm new they limit me to 3 entries in the beginning. If you like it, then request an "edit" so I can re-work what I submit. I'll make it scream party. :)

  • Hi ch. I send to you design #7 , #8. i hope you will like my work. i am awaiting yours feedback. thanks.
    • Like the simplicity of your designs; but like all the designs we have seen so far, it's all text driven. We are looking for a creative element, that says MardiGras/Carnival/Cajun... other than the flour de lis. Just needs a little more flash and color.

  • design #10 would love to hear any comments or improvements thanks
    • Love your design the most so far.... please give us a few more to look at in the same avenue.

  • https://www.designcontest.com/other-design/who-dat-rum/entry/21/ Only one design per canvas is allowed, color variations is allowed but not different designs. Please read the rules before posting!
  • #22 shows some out of the box concepts for metallic printing directly onto glass. Additionally, changing the color wax seal on top of bottle can help differentiate the flavors, adding a few stream of ribbon curls keeps it festive. Hope you find something inspirational here.
  • Hi CH. I send to you a redesign #21. i am awaiting your feedback. thank you.
  • hi scott, #37,#38,#39. I've just added a top hand drawn logo to the top label. this keeps with the edginess of the design.
  • hi ch. scott2 thanks for liking my design i will send to you one more design option as well as possible soon thanks again best regards babar786

      |--| I would really like some feedback on #51. Just to see if there's anything i can do to it!

  • Hi CH, Here's another entry of mine #54 hope you like it. Good luck. :-)
  • Hello Scott, I just submitted my design, #60 and was looking for some feedback. This variation was quick and would still need work but seeing as you are only looking for a concept I feel this would be sufficient. The brief stated that the liquor would be marketed as a high end rum and I feel the refined design can reflect that. Thank you, and I look forward to hearing from you. -D.G.
  • Alex, One of our top five designs... love the use of color, and the splash... the only thing we don't like is the "DAT" being a different font.. Can you make the datthe same font as others, and also make it similar to the font in design # 10... We also like for you to make the rum itself dark in two of the bottles, the aged and cinnamon are dark rums and then do a white rum and a coconut rum in clear...
    • Thank you for replying scott, ill do my best to do this! ill have another entry up in a few hours! - Regards

  • Hi scott, I submitted #72 . Along with a few other entries. All the colors in my entries are easy to change if required. Hope you like them. Thanks, Joe.
    • did you get my message about the print files?

  • Hi CH! Please Check my logos #63 #64 #65 #66 . In case you would like to see any change just ask me! Thanks!

      |--| Can you send the labels without the backgrounds, so we can print and attach to bottles for our contest?

  • Hi Ch, Here's another idea. I did it in black version #70. Goodluck.
  • I made another version #68 , please give me some opinions on that one aswell, the sooner the better! - Alex
