Winning design #53 by GinamosBulad, Logo Design for A-1 Professional Automotive Contest

Project description

Logo for a neighborhood automotive repair company. The company prides itself on being: - experts - trustworthy - accommodating - value conscious Logo needed for signage, business cards and social media. I've attached logo for NAPA auto parts. We anticipate sharing some of our signage with them, so our logo should compliment theirs, but not duplicate it.

  • May I ask. Did you guys have a color scheme in mind? Or maybe a warm or cold feel to it?
    • Frankly, no. We're open to ideas. Maybe this will help: - Car repair business - Traditional, middle class customers - Owner is a very trustworthy, hardworking Greek immigrant who has worked all his life to own his own business and finally has it now

    • Okay! I was getting to putting the wrench in after I changed my colors away from the napa, I was thinking maybe a purple/yellow. Would that be appealing?

    • My gut says no.... I just looked up the colors to the Greek flag... Blue and white http://www.google.com/search?newwindow=1&hl=en&site=imghp&tbm=isch&source=hp&biw=1454&bih=768&q=graphic+wrench&oq=graphic+wrench&gs_l=img.3...644.5031.0.5644.14.11.0.3.3.0.298.804.9j0j1.10.0....0...1ac.1.35.img..4.10.802.BHaxk83h69o#hl=en&newwindow=1&q=greek+flag&tbm=isch&imgdii=_

      |--| Then I will work with those colors! And about the wrench, whereabouts would you exactly like that to be integrated

    • Is there a way to have the handle of the wrench serve as the underline of the word PROFESSIONAL and then the head of the wrench to serve as either: a) the background to A-1 b) the frame for A-1

      |--| Yes I could do that! I will work on the updates and resubmit tomorrow! Thanks:)

    • Appreciate your questions and thoroughness

  • Nice work! The color scheme works, given how you've ;aid out the type. My concern is with the A-1. It's a very creative interpretation. My concern is, that since this is a new business, and people are not familiar with A-1, do we need to make it more obvious... ... Your contemporary approach is cool but maybe too creative given the traditional, middle class neighborhood the business serves. Good start.
  • Excellent work! Few thoughts: - the blue and gold color scheme, which mirrors NAPA, we should avoid. I posted it, because their logo will share space on biz cards and signage (they are providing auto parts) - Really like the arrow encasing the logo is in - The blue line under Professional that extends under A-1, at first I thought was suppose to be a wrench, but upon inspecting it, not sure it that was your intent. I think it would be really cool to have it look like a wrench, if possible. Here's a link to some wrenches. http://www.google.com/search?newwindow=1&hl=en&site=imghp&tbm=isch&source=hp&biw=1454&bih=768&q=graphic+wrench&oq=graphic+wrench&gs_l=img.3...644.5031.0.5644.14.11.0.3.3.0.298.804.9j0j1.10.0....0...1ac.1.35.img..4.10.802.BHaxk83h69o - My clients will view in the morning, I may have mroe feedback then. Great start!

      |--| Okay, So are you talking about putting in the wrench next to A-1 in the early that is blue? Or below?

      |--| Okay, So are you talking about putting in the wrench next to A-1 in the area that is blue? Or below? Im not quite understanding exactly where you would like the wrench. If you could clarify that would be awesome!

  • Hi! I submitted my design! Any suggestions upon improving it to your liking?
    • My comments have been submitted. Again, thanks for your work. Great start.

  • This is a super-slick clean look. Love the way Professional Automotive pops. Looks important and effective. The A-1 is super creative, but I fear most people will not be able to decipher the meaning. The client has been insistent we use the dash between A-1. (There may be a trademark issue, if we don't.) Can you re-think the A-1? Again, I love the super-creative attempt to make it contemporary. My concern is that the business is located in an area that will serve more traditional customers. It's a start-up business and so they do not know the brand. Great work!
  • This is really cool. The type pops. The car is subtle, but is fairly clear for people to see. The use of the letters for tires is brilliant. I think my client will like the color choice. I'm so-so on it. He's viewing in the morning. I will have more feedback, then. Very nice!
  • Hello CH - I thought adding a star into the A-1 tied it all up nicely and looked clean and memorable - any thoughts?? Thanks for your time. Settimio
    • I like the star and the color scheme. My client will view tomorrow morning. He was insistent on having a dash (I tried to talk him into a car acting as the dash). So, we'll see his reaction. The red-white-blue on A-1 will be something he likes. I wonder if the font on Professional Automotive could look ... bolder. I like the font face and the italicized (or the leaning look)... just hoping it can pop more. Maybe if you move it up, too. If it landed to the right and on the middle of A-1 it might work better. It's a great start. Very creative. Thanks, Aldo

    • Aldo- All very constructive remarks - I'll got another concept rolling around in my head too. . . kind regards. Thank-You.

  • Hello CH, I have submitted #1. I hope i'm going in the right direction. I can modify it accordingly. Thanks, Paul
    • Hi Paul. Excellent start. I love the way A-1 pops. The color scheme should not be exactly like that NAPA logo - only compliment. The NAPA and A-1 will share signage and business cards. But, they are two different entities. So, let's not parrot their colors, but compliment. I wonder if there is anyway to take the background highlight of PROFESSIONAL AUTOMOTIVE that is currently gold or yellowish and shape that so it resembles an auto? Is that too corny? Impossible? Too busy? I love logos that have subliminal shapes that suggest something. Like the Big Ten logo (you can see the number 11 - which is how many teams the have), the Milwaukee Brewers glove logo is actually an "m" and a "b." I think what we have now will look good on shirts (as a logo on work shirts), web sites, etc. so we are on the right track. Thanks, Aldo

    • Hi Aldo, Thanks for the feedback and rating. I think that including something that resembles an auto could look really good, if done in a subtle way. I will work on it and resubmit soon. Much thanks, Paul

  • Hi CH. Pls check my design entry #39 & #38. I hope you like it. Thank you very much! Best Regards, finestroke
  • Hi Agandia; Good Morning...Here is my design #26, #27 and #28. Hope you like it. Thanks GB
  • I resubmitted under the requests you've made. Was unable to fit the wrench unfortunately but I think it looks better than it did! Zack
  • Nice!!! The A-1 really is distinguishable in a creative way. The checkered flag ... I'm not sure about it. But, I think overall this is really good!
    • Thank -you - Also I think it is very important that the lettering compliments the logo and does not get lost or "too attached" to the design -- marketing here. So I think I achieved that with "your help".

    • You're absolutely right. I'm looking forward to showing these to the client. Great work!

    • Hello again - looks like your favorite is going in a much different direction. . . Am I beating a dead horse if I rework design without checkered flag, using block of color other element? Thanks Settimio

    • No, Not at all. There's a committee of people weighing in on the final choice. I'm the Creative Director entrusted with giving direction to the artists, but ultimately, the two principals in the company will make the choice. I like your work and hope you'll continue on.

  • I like the red gears. We lose the A-1 on this design, though.
  • Very creative attempt on the A-1. My client has told me he wants to see the A-1 together, because it is a new business and he wants customers to quickly learn the brand name. So, this might be a difficult sell. I will show it to him. I like the gears. I think the grey on professional should be white
  • There is a lot I like about this design - very creative. But, unfortunately, it doesn't feel like the design lends itself to the business.
  • Nice design. Clean and excellent color choice. Typically, I don't like gaps through the letters for some companies, because it might imply that the work will be incomplete. But, this looks cool. The A-1 is nicely designed. I will show this to the client.
  • This is the color scheme I prefer. The text jumps out. I will show this to the client
  • Good work. I like the layout. Almost looks like the front of a car, the grill work. I prefer the color scheme in the other one. The word professional is hard to read with the blue background.
  • I like these. Can you include the A-1 in the wording. That way if people can not decipher the A-1 in your design it is spelled out for them. I prefer the upper left design. Can the circle around the A-1 resemble more of a car tire to let people know we are a car repair company. And , maybe the lower part of the A (that is in red in the upper left design) can that look like an auto wrench. That will clearly tell prospective customers we are in the fix it business. Nice work!
  • I prefer the other color scheme...
