Need a text logo for a new (Swedish) classified ads site - bamba.nu (not officially released but in design face and up and running). The logo will be on top of the site and probably not used for anything else (no letterhead, t-shirts, business cards etc).
The visitor to the site has most likely found the site either from googling or from a social media site. And before the first visit, has probably not seen the logo anywhere else.
So the purpose of the text logo is to make the visitor remember the name. You also want him/her to get a feeling of recognition and dependability. You want him/her to either come back and look for other classifieds or to come back and list something.
The word "bamba" is basically a nonsense word in Swedish; meaning nothing. Just a fun word to say. The .nu domain is used because "nu" means "now" in Swedish. So you may read the name of the classified site "Bamba Now".
My fantasy and design skills are limited (if they weren't, I would have done the design myself). So my thoughts go to clean text logo designs like "amazon.com", "Mobil", "YAHOO", "Walmart*", "Google", "Denny's" and so on. However, it is important that .nu is also in the text logo.
You may already have a look at the site today (bamba.nu) and the logo will replace the BAMBA.nu (the text in blue, not the top one), so you can see that it is important it doesn't take too much space on the height. Yet, there is plenty of room to the right and I would like a suggestion on how to incorporate a text message. (Like (just a rough example): "Buy and sell. Advertise and find cars, clothes, electronics, market fairs or whatever you may think off"). That text should probably be in the same image file as the text logo that is uploaded to the host, to avoid formatting problems. Still, I'd like the text message font to be a common font, so that I may change the text message later by myself in e.g. photoshop. (So; the end product would be a text logo image in jpg, png or whatever is appropriate and that placed in a photoshop file with an editable text message). Please note: the text in the text message is not important; it is the text message font and the placement, so that it makes a nice whole with the text logo.
So, basically a simple text logo with not too much bells and whistles. Easy to read and to remember. Finally, the site itself is not fancy and the text logo must feel natural in that context.
While thinking about it: I guess a lot of people advertising at bamba.nu will publish their bamba.nu ad on their own facebook page (and also on appropriate group pages). Those facebook inserts have the website name in grey at the bottom left in uppercase. In this case: BAMBA.NU. So an idea would be to keep the the text logo similar to that font? Maybe even in grey with some accent colors (maybe in the Swedish flag colors). How boring isn't that? Maybe not. It's an idea. Anyhow, in the beginning, I guess FB will be a place where people see the bamba.nu name and link for the first time.
