Project description

Looking for a logo for my website with a cartoony goblin mascot holding a huge WOODEN mallet (I'm thinking something huge, that's oversized like in an Anime.) that is as big as itself. Feel of the hammer (mallet): http://imgur.com/JcIEvx8 I'm looking for something that feels mean and cute all at the same time. The goblin has evil intentions but due to lack of intelligence it's like watching the three stooges. Feel of the goblin: http://imgur.com/6zUe9j3 http://imgur.com/Ess2l7b (I really like this angle and the proportions. Something similar to this has a much higher chance of winning. Obviously it does have to be unique though.) I'm imagining a goblin with a huge wooden mallet on it's shoulder just posing for the camera. Or maybe perhaps a silhouette of a goblin holding an oversized mallet. It's still somewhat up in the air. I imagine the character beside the words, "Goblin Hammer". I'm not necessarily set on this concept, even if it's a snapshot of the goblin in action doing something amazing, that would be cool too. The website is all about Magic the Gathering which is a collectible card game.

  • Hey CH, I submitted #23 & #26 and any feedback would be nice. I have the original line drawing and can make multiple poses as well for your site or change anything about the one I already submitted, thanks! P.s. I can also give him a hat and/or mask but I think seeing the face gives him identity and fits more of what you want when displaying poor intelligence but still looks evil.
    • Man, this looks amazing! I love it! Could you move the GH on the hammer so the G is a bit more visible and use the same font you used for the logo on the hammer (capital letters though)? Also on the Goblin Hammer logo, could you try putting that light effect in the center of the "o" and "b" so it looks like glowing eyes peering out? Please try vertical lights too. So far, yours is the best by a large margin.

    • Thanks for the feedback! Getting on those changes right now for you, but that font doesn't come with capital letters but I will switch fonts to something near the same.

    • Then can you just use the lowercase letters? I'd like to try and keep the fonts consistent. Also I'd like to see a variation of having a smaller "gh" in the lower right corner of the hammer. Could you try adding an earring like in the following image? http://imgur.com/IaC9rpZ Also could I see a variation on the eyes, where they look friendlier/more human.

    • I can just use the lower case letters if you like that font or I can change the font and use the new font for all the text. I will also add the earring, which ear do you want it on and do you want it higher up on the ear? I will submit both a large 'gh' picture and small 'gh' picture on the hammer for you to choose from. I will give each one new different eyes as well.

    • Thank you. Yeah, that would be great! Same position for the earring as the image attached.

    • Submitted #29 & #30. I moved the flares on the body to the eyes. I can move them back or erase them, or even put a small flare on his new earring if you want. If you want anything fixed, changed, or whatever you want to see, just let me know. :)

    • I really like the earring and the attention to detail where the skin seems to be punctured for it. In #29, please remove the flares on the eyes, I'd like to see them. Can I also see the other font you were considering as a logo? And could you put back the old GH that was on the hammer but make the "G" more visible by moving the GH down a little (the one you drew by hand), I think the current font is too fancy for the goblin's hammer.

    • submitted #31, added eye lids as well to the eyes and switched the text out. let me know what you like or don't and i will change it. If you still want to see more font variants and/or different eyes, just let me know. thanks. P.S. I also noticed I left a black line going through the earring, I will fix that with my next submission unless there are no more changes then I just upload a new one with it fixed.

    • Oh, I see what's going on. Is it possible to have the effects of the flair without having the flair actually be visible? I like the lighting of #23. Assuming #23 is the main image, I'd like to have the lighting of the flair but no flair visible, the hammer from #31, and the very subtle silhouette of #29 (remove the drop shadow). As for the logo (still assuming #23 is the main image), I like that font with the super thick black outline and the dropshadow. Could you provide 4 variations of the logo: the logo with the flair (with and without eyes), without the flair but with the lighting effect (with and without eyes). Also please make the eyes more subtle. I think you have a very high chance of winning. :) edit: With the earring from #29, of course.

    • Ok, on the goblin himself you would like to keep the eyes and eyelids in #31 or do you mean the eyes on the logo more subtle. just to clear things up for me, here's what I got... Goblin Changes: -keep lighting like in #23 but remove flair -hammer of #31 -remove drop shadows -Eyes of #31? Logo: -Focus on Logo of #23 -4 variations (the logo with the flair (with and without eyes) & without the flair but with the lighting effect (with and without eyes). Thanks for your feedback!

    • Summary: Goblin Changes: -keep lighting like in #23 but remove flare -hammer of #31 -remove drop shadows -add the very subtle drop shadow of #29 -add earring of #29 -keep eyes of #23 Logo -Focus on Logo of #23 -add hammer text texture of #29 -4 variations (the logo with the flare (with and without eyes) & without the flare but with the lighting effect (with and without eyes). -make flare eyes subtle

    • I will have the logo and goblin two seperate vector images so you can control the spacing and size of each individually and I can also include one where they are both together as one image. Here they are, I added the tree texture like you asked into "hammer" and I added the goblin texture into "goblin." #35 No flare #36 No flare with eyes #34 Flare #32 Flare with eyes #37 EXTRA: Flare with eyes /w color change, extra text outline added, stronger reflective light on eyeballs, thicker black outline on goblin, and shadow between the goblin and his hammer. Just added this extra one to see if you like any of the extra additions. If there's and changes or variations you would still like to see, don't be afraid to ask. Thanks.

    • Sounds good! It looks really awesome and I'm digging a lot of the new additions. I love the cuter eyes on the goblin and the shadow between the goblin and his hammer. Goblin Changes (Assuming #37 is now the main image): - Revert the color back to green. - Make the thicker black outline on the goblin the same thickness as before. - In #29 there's a very subtle shadow behind the goblin, please put that in #37. - On the hammer, there's a crack line on the "H" that wasn't there before, please put the "H" layer above that crack line. I really like both the #34 and #32 logos. I'll use both on the website, depending on if the goblin is standing beside the logo or not. When the goblin is visible with the logo, I'll use the logo in #34 and when the goblin isn't around and only the logo is visible I'll use the logo in #32. Logo Changes (Assuming #34 and #32 are now the main logos): - Make the drop shadow on both logos soft like the logo in #23. - Move the #32 logo flare eyes towards the left; the same position as the flare eyes in #37. Thank you!

    • Oh, yeah I just noticed the extra text outline for the logo in #37. I really like that, please add that to #34 and #32 logo!

    • ^Disregard the logo changes in the above 2 posts. As I keep looking at the logos, I think the #37 logo is actually the best. Updated Logo Changes (Assuming #37 is the main logo): - Make the "goblin" word green. - Have one with the flare eyes removed and has the flare effects of #34.

    • Ok, you still want the goblin green as well, right? I'm making those changes now and will submit two with both flare effects on the text that you want.

    • Yes! :) P.S. When I say logo, I mean the text logo. I still would like the changes regarding the Goblin.

    • Submitted #45 & #46. If there is still changes that you want to make, just let me know. :)

    • - Remove the drop shadows from the text (if this is a toggle on/off button in your psd, it doesn't matter). - In #45 please change the flare eyes to green. And I think that's it! :)

    • Do you mean the flare on the goblin or the logo. The flare on the logo is green but I just added a small brown one over the hammer text. I can change that to green or just remove it if that's what you're referring to. As for dropshadows, if you're going to be using Vector files then you should avoid them and just add them your self when you apply the logo which is easy. As of right now they are just .PSD files with all layers and adjustments still intact and easy to edit. I can submit the files though in w/e format you want.

    • Oh man, I should have waited a little longer. :) I love the logo!

    • #48 does look the best!

  • Hello! I have submitted Entry #27 for your review. I'd love to hear your thoughts/adjustments you might like made. Thanks!
  • Hello, CH, I've got another design up for you to check out, #25 .
  • This is definitely a direction I like! Could you try making the hammer a wooden one and make the character look cuter and more alive?
  • Oh, man this is definitely the best I've seen so far! I love the mask, but I think the mask shouldn't be that similar to the reference image (*sad face* I really love that mask!). Also could you make the hammer a bit more similar to the reference image in size and make it a straight handle? I really like the direction you're going in the most!
  • Could you check out the Brief section and try something along those lines?
    • Please check out #15 if this is more your style let me know what you want to change this is a rough sketch :)

  • Please let me know how you like entry no #14. Thanks
  • Could you check out the Brief section and try something along those lines?

  • Sounds like a fun task this. I have a question as well: how do you picture the stature of the goblin - is it about to hit something with the hammer (as if there is some captured motion in the picture) or is it more like a portrait? I hope it makes sense :) And by the way - could you say what the website is about? Is it supposed to be a mascot-ish thing for your company or something like that? Thanks.
    • Oh yeah, it's totally like a portrait. I'm imagining a goblin with a huge wooden mallet (please check the "Brief" section, I've updated it accordingly.) on it's shoulder just posing for the camera. Or maybe perhaps a silhouette of a goblin holding an oversized mallet. I imagine the character standing beside the words, "Goblin Hammer". I'm not necessarily set on this concept, even if it's a snapshot of the goblin in action doing something amazing, that would be cool too. The website is all about Magic the Gathering which is a collectible card game.

    • Hi again. About #9. Well ,it has been a while since I drew things like this - and I have never drawn a goblin before - so there are some things that I can see needs some correction (the one leg, the one arm and hands and feet (its tuff to draw hands and feet :) - but I think I have got the ears pretty much right :) Mind that this is only a pencil sketch. Once it is as you want it to be I will outline it on the computer, as that might take some time as well. Just so I have a chance of winning this thing :) Let me hear what you think so far and if you have any corrections :)

    • I did add a lot more details to the "Brief" section. Please reference this image: http://imgur.com/Ess2l7b (<- I really like the angle and the proportions of the character in this image. Could you do something similar to this? That would be awesome.)

  • Hey! Can't wait to put something together for you. Quick question... is there a general personality you'd like the goblin to have? Such as friendly, mean, playful, etc...? Thank you!
    • I'm looking for something that feels mean and cute all at the same time. The goblin has evil intentions but due to lack of intelligence it's like watching the three stooges. http://imgur.com/6zUe9j3 http://imgur.com/Ess2l7b I'm not necessarily set on this concept, so I'm open to a lot of different designs.

  • Hello! I have submitted new design proposal of Goblin Hammer #43. I have made some changes on previous entry #28 - Goblin's face, hammer, and instead of grediant colors, here are flat colors. I am hoping you will like it. If you have any further directions or suggestions, let me know. All the best!
  • Dear Ch, Would love to hear your input on my submission #33. Hope you like it. IsaacsInk
