Project description

Heart of Miami is a clothing brand in Miami, Florida that expresses the love of the city. Currently the brand’s target demographic is women between the ages of 15 and 35. Our look is tastefully sexy (think Victoria Secret), expressing the city’s heritage through images and words on the clothing about the local culture, hot spots, and South Florida favorites. In the future we will be adding a Men’s line to the brand. Heart of Miami is looking for a logo that is clean and attractive. The logo needs to be unisex to accommodate both our women’s and men’s line. We would also like an “image logo or symbol” to accompany the full logo. This is usually a part of the logo (but doesn’t have to be) and could be used as a standalone on the clothing labels when the full logo isn’t suitable for that particular placement. For example, Levi’s Jeans has a red tab and Nike has a swoosh. The “image logo or symbol” should be easy to embroider such as Lacoste’s alligator or JC Penny’s initials JCP. I would like to see an emphasis on the word Miami in the logo. When the consumer sees the brand the word Miami should stand out. The logo should also express the feel and design of Miami. Below are a few links to Miami websites that will give you a better idea of the feel and look we are trying to go for. Click around on the sites; take a look at the pictures posted. I have also uploaded a file with a design idea I was interested in. I am not limited to this idea. Thank you and good luck! http://global.miamiandbeaches.com/program/its-so-miami/ http://www.miamiandbeaches.com/

  • I like the tropicalness in the logo. Variations in the image selection and text would be nice. I like the placement.
    • Hi Thanks for the comment. I've submitted another version now for you with different heart design but keeping the tropical theme.

    • Hi your new design is nice. Can you try to create the design I uploaded into the brief. An outline of a heart, tilted under the Miami with "of" in cursive? I would like to see Miami with sharper edges (less round). I know it isn't unisex but I would like to see the variation.

  • Hi, I like how the design catches my eye. I would like to see it more compact, stacked like rather than long left to right. Does that make sense?
    • Yes, I understand what you mean :) I'll re-work it and get it posted as soon as I can. Thank you!

  • Check out these links about Miami to illustrate the feel I am looking for. http://global.miamiandbeaches.com/program/its-so-miami/ http://www.miamiandbeaches.com/
  • I would like to see an emphasis on the word Miami in the logo. When the consumer sees the brand the word Miami should stand out.
  • Creative with the leaf. The text and color looks like the 70's a bit old for what I am looking for.
  • Hello, I have a question about something mentioned in the brief. What is meant by “image logo or symbol”? Is this a reference to something like this: http://goo.gl/IafkGF
    • Hello, the "image logo or symbol" is a small symbol that identifies the company when the full logo can not be used. For example, Publix, a local grocery store has a "P" when their full logo isn't appropriate. Sometimes but not always it is a part of the full logo. I hope this helps, let me know if you need a better explanation.

  • This design and text has an art deco feel to it that I really like. Variations to the image/ sunrise part would be nice to see.
    • Thank you for the feedback. I'll work on some variations and upload them.

    • Thank you!

  • I like the concept of everything all in one. Its a bit too punk rock for me. Needs to feel like Miami. Check out the links I posted in the brief.
    • Thank you for the feedback. I can see the "punk rock" style in it for sure. I'll try to bring some different elements into the concept and make it less cold feeling.

    • Thank you!

  • About #4, Your text is girly, nice for my women's line but my men's line is left out.
  • The design is too simple, it doesn't stand out to me. In Miami, to be noticed you need to stand out. Check out the links I posted in the brief for some ideas.
  • Text and color variation are nice. Design is too urban for me.
  • The design is to clunky, and leans towards a child's line rather than a men's and women's. I'm looking for more trendy/ modern.
  • The look is too medical, needs to be more trendy.
  • I like the text selection. A different image in the back would be nice. And maybe some color.
  • Hello, thank you to everyone that have already submitted a design. I was having trouble getting into the site early. I will be commenting on each piece to assist in the design process. I have also added some helpful links to the design brief and an attachment with a logo idea. (I am not set on this idea). Good luck!
  • Hello, I have submitted #6 for review. I tried to go with a more modern, trendy theme to help you nail that young target demographic. Thank you!
  • Hello CH, some initial feedback on my entry #1 would be excellent, All the best Ben
  • The text reminds me of the art district we have here in Miami. The letters are a bit too thick though. I like how you have "heart of" in the M. I am not sold on the heart.
    • Hi, thanks for the feedback. I will work on the lettering and the heart. Perhaps we could keep the heart totally separate from the logo and just have the heart as an additional brand asset?

    • Sure, I am open to new ideas!

  • I really like how the heart is very subtle with this design. The open ended heart looks like it needs something. Maybe a tilt, maybe an extra detail of some sort... I am not sure. I would also like to see variations in the text; art deco, modern, sexy variations.
  • Great entries, I like the way this one slants with the thinner heart. Can I see variations with a more petite size heart and different text, explore art deco, modern, and contemporary looks for the text.
