Logo for Trustripes Mobile App and Web

I have to be honest: we got almost 300 logo designs but only 10% of that where useful (because of quality). We're happy because finally we got an incredible logo in the expected time (pretty fast time response), but it would be awesome if the average level of designers was higher.

Project description

Hi designers! We're looking for a great design for our new brand. We will launch a mobile app and website that will turn into a start-up soon. The product is a kind of social network based on products, it uses intensively the smartphone camera to scan barcodes of any kind of products you can eat and drink (not books, tech, or any kind of things you cannot eat or drink). The Brand is “Trustripes” and the domain trustripes.com but only the Brand should be showed in the logo. In some way, we would like you to include a codebar like this (http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/c/c2/Barcode_EAN-8.gif) obviously very small and not exactly as you can see it in the link. The goal to include a barcode in the logo is only for letting people understand what kind of “stripes” we’re talking about with our brand name. The logo we're looking for needs to have 2 parts: an icon and the brand name (text). Text: use a creative font for the text “Trustripes”. It must not be funny or inspire a game, but should be modern, creative and positive. Not serious also. Keep in mind that people should understand that it is Tru + Stripes. Like the real essence of a barcode. We would like to evoke that our apps users are able to see beyond a simple barcode, understand its essence. A common person will see barcodes, but our users will see beyond. KEEP THAT IN MIND. Icon: Include an icon as part of the logo. This can be inspired in any of these ideas or objects: o Crowdsourcing (people scanning barcodes and/or making reviews with their smartphones) o All kind of groceries you can eat or drink and always include a barcode (not a book for example, but cans, bags, boxes, etc have usually a barcode) Brand awareness: On everyone’s top of mind as the best place/app to share and get info about products we eat and drink and its related content (like recipes) We would like to inspire: Modern, Web 2.0. The logo should motivate people to explore about products they eat and drink, and also to generate content of that experience. Colors: We like happy and vivid colors. Only barcode stripes must always be black. Feel free to use the colors you like, only avoid many dark colors. Style: Clean design, more minimalist than complex. You can use degradees and shadows. Find attached a PDF with some logos we like, just as reference. ADDITIONAL INFO AFTER CONTEST START Let me help you with some great logos that will help as inspiration for your proposals: IDEA 1: http://www.designcontest.com/logo-design/logo-design-for-a-digital-content-distribution-site/entry/27/ What I like here is this kind of "Stained Glass", this idea of showing many icons and objects in one piece, without free spaces between them. It remember me this: http://www.caribbean.edu/vitral_techo.jpg. In a flat and square figure would be great. IDEA 2: Have a look at http://www.designcontest.com/logo-design/logo-design-for-a-digital-content-distribution-site/entry/39/. Only at the part which is inside the pail. We like those smalls icons that appear to be chips or cubes. Using many of them together and organized like here (http://www.designcontest.com/logo-design/logo-design-for-a-digital-content-distribution-site/entry/26/) would be cool.

  • Hey CH this is my design #48 i think you'll like it *highlight on ST to separate between trust and stripe *an item that represent all products *and bar-code in the text in case you wanna any changes .. i can make it fast
  • Dear CH, Thanks for your feedback, please find my revised versions, incorporating takeouts... french fries pack, cup and bottle icons #39 and #43. Cheers, Liz

  • thanks for the feedbacks. Hope you like the new ones #20.
  • It's a nice try!! The icon looks really nice, but I don't feel that has much meaning, what is supposed to be? The text need more identity, a different and creative font. Try using also more colors and to include somehow the barcode.
  • Hello Sir Please see my design #17 and make some feedback. I hope you like the concept Thanks.
  • Keep working :)
  • Very cool design! The way you integrated the barcodes with the text is really smart. The icon needs more work. We're thinking about millions of people using this app... 3 people do not reflect that. Good luck!
  • I think the style of shadows, embossed and bevel you are using are the right ones. It would be great if you can try other colors for the text "trustripes". Try other kind of icons, other concept. See our last feedback at the common comments. You're doing great!
  • Please, have a look at the logo brief and also comments.

  • Great font and nice color also! I would suggest including some how the barcode in the text "trustripes", maybe part of the text or a couple of letters? Also think about other icon. We love the idea of crowdsourcing or many people contributing, not like a clipart, but synthesized.
  • NTZ33, you can look at the attached PDF in our Brief to have a look of what kind of logos we're looking for. Sorry if you feel we where "little harsh", it was really only a quick answer so you can keep working. We have seen great designs from you here, but the last design was not in the same path. Good luck.
  • A little harsh ch. Looks like your looking for a clip art style design. Good luck.
  • Asimov, thanks for your explaination. Now we understand, but we feel we could have copyrights problems if we use an icon in that way. Try also not using only one element as part of the icon, but more than one of them. As there are many important categories for us, we cannot use only one product. Thanks.
  • Dear CH, the icon is a reference to famous look of a Campbell's soup can, not only the can but the pop-art symbol.
  • Designers: maybe this is a good idea about how to include the barcode. Try to include it as part of the text "Trustripes" and not in the icon.
