Project description

We are creating a visual brand for an individual thoroughbred race horse named Dewey Square. We have been using a shortened version for marketing and promotion - Dewey2 (with the 2 in superscript when possible). Photos and information about the horse may be obtained at:, which contains links to: and Dewey is a top tier thoroughbred racehorse that will compete in high level stakes races. The applications for the visual brand will be print and on-line communications, various articles of apparel and other physical items. Designs should bear in mind applications with a wide range of production processes and scale. The established colors that have been employed by the farm are: red, PMS 186, yellow, PMS 121, and black. The approach should be a wordmark, simple and direct and convey the personality of this upcoming youthful, male athlete (as opposed to horse racing in general). It should have a sense of fun and excitement, yet be dignified and sophisticated and appropriate to the sport of thoroughbred horse racing. The wordmark may integrate and employ imagery.

  • The simplicity of this approach is appealing although the script type font seems out of character for what we are trying to convey.
  • Font seems contrived and not particularly sophisticated. Not sure of the meaning of the red "y" and the "2" seems far too small relative to the size of the other type
  • Legibility is difficult and not sure why "y" is red.
  • Legibility is difficult and not sure why "y" is red
  • Far too complex for for reproduction
  • Far to complex for various reproduction methods - embroidery for instance. See design brief.
  • The identity is for "Dewey," not Thoroughbred Race Horse

  • Hello SFDS~ I designed a couple logos for your consideration that are clean, simple and modern and feature an elegant and stylized thoroughbred with fluid lines and flowing mane to show movement. I created as a vertical layout and horizontal to give you versatility with your logo. The simple 2 color palette of red and black will reproduce well in print, online or for apparel to be embroidered onto shirts, hats, saddle pads, blankets, etc., or for signage and trailers. The logo can also easily translate into one color, black or white for your various needs. I designed with a couple different fonts and variations. Hope you like the concepts: #62 and #63 I also created a comp that is square in format in several color combinations: #64 (Not sure why the red color looks faded in entries 47 and 48. I uploaded new versions for your review. I used your branded colors PMS 186 red and PMS 121 yellow). Kind regards, PaintedPony
  • Hi CH This horse head is hidden symbol between "D" and "E".
  • SFDS- how about design #27? Can you please give me feedback on this one please.
  • Thanks for the submission - doesn't seem like a race horse - could be any type of horse
  • Seems very feminine
  • Too feminine and fussy for a race horse
  • Doesn't feel like a racehorse - could be any trotting horse
  • I feel the disk with the horse and "D" seems heavy and just makes the wordmark difficult to read
  • Photos are not allowed as logos and this is a traced photo. All logo work is required to be your own 100 % work not traced from someones photos
  • Hi There CH Thanks for your rating Ive uploaded another one with the changes you want Can you send me a feedback, please?..
  • Seems like a movie poster and not a wordmark.
