Project description

What's on there? .com - This is a website which will allow customers to find out about offers and events in any town or city in the UK. The site will allow a user to refine their search for specific areas of interest, namely: Events Attractions Shopping Eating Out Nightlife Health & Beauty Activities Kids Breaks Classes Culture We imagine the logo to be fun, colourful and also include the abbreviated letters for the website "WOT" as well as "What's on there?" and ".com". We have also envisaged an image of looking down a road into the distance with icons at the sides of the road representing some of the categories of interest above. This could be done separate to the logo or as part of the logo. We would also perhaps use the icons for the categories of interest within the website too. I have attached to this brief a silly sketch of what is in my head. I am not any sort of designer as you will see but the theme of this would capture the concept of the website quite well. I look forward to seeing your innovative designs. Good luck!

  • Just submitted first draft. What do you think? Have any feedback for me?
  • I like the idea for this too but the road is not necessarily important for the logo. Looking for a bit more inspiration. I prefer this one to the other last two but still keen to see something a bit different.

  • Ok I feel like I get the concept a little more now. U want simple, yet bold. It should make a statement but not be too busy. And the idea of the road with the town isn't the direction you are headed for the logo. Am I right? I have some ideas that follow those guide lines. If that's what you are looking for I can start designing soon
    • Yes, this sounds like you are on the right lines. The road is not necessarily needed for the logo. The road is more of the idea for the footer of the website. Thanks.

  • I really like this. It is simple, colourful and includes the website address. I was hoping for a little more creativity however, and the WOT abbreviation should also form part of the logo if possible. I also like #1 idea of the pin pointer forming part of the O of the WOT. Perhaps combining these would get much closer to what I was after. Thanks, Tom
    • Thank you for the feedback. I hope my next submission will go the right direction.

  • Hi, as I mentioned in the email to you, I like the innovative idea with this but the brief is more about the actual logo itself and on a white background. Idea #2 is on the right lines but the WOT needs to be included and a little more creativity included. Thanks, Tom
  • Hi, before I start designing I would like to refine some ideas. I envision a city street in 2-point perspective (you are looking from an intersection looking down two diverging roads with the buildings and activities in the center. Right beneath the cutoff for the image I will put the web address. As I said. Refine my ideas, give me something to feed off of. I am a 14 year old designer so you can set my imagination wild and I will create something great for you.

      |--| Hi, thanks for the message. The picture of the road into the distance was an idea for a footer for each page of the website as well as for the homescreen, and relevant because the logo itself may include something to do with that theme, for example a pin pointer from the "O" of the WOT. Your idea sounds good but the actual logo is really key for this contest as this will be part of the overall website brand. Idea #2 is a good one for the logo, as it is simple, colourful and includes the web address. However, I was hoping for a little more innovation around the logo itself and the abbreviation WOT should be part of the logo if possible as this abbreviation will be used for the marketing. I have attached a further picture that I created but I don't want to be too prescriptive as I am looking for something creative. It will be great to see what your ideas are. Tom

  • hi. please tell me what you think about #1. I've also created an illustration of the road and a skyline, but i want to make sure this is to your liking before starting work on the icons as they're a bit time consuming..
    • Hi, I like the basic idea, which could be developed further. The image wording does not have to be like the image I posted, as I deliberately left it simple to open up ideas for design. One thing to remember is that the actual URL will be whatsonthere.com rather than WOT, however we will use WOT to abbreviate the site marketing.

  • Thanks for your entry. This is a nice idea but needs to improve in quality. It is still not quite standing out for me in terms of bold, simple, professional. I am going to add a couple of other samples I have been playing with and some new colours to try out. There are two parts here, the WOT part and the "whatsonthere.com" part. The circle of the "O" in WOT could have a subtle image inside it? Let me see what you come up with.
    • okay i will try fix it like your feedback / comment , thnks for feedback sir

  • My favourite so far. Could you make the "What's" a little more grey in colour as it appears black at the base. Also, could you make the pin pointer a little more pointed like the one in my example. I think I would prefer the middle of the pin pointer to be empty without the question mark but I also thought of a simple compass in the centre? I like the stars coming out from the end of the pin pointer but you can't see some of them as they are also pink. How about using all four colours, pink, blue, dark grey and light grey stars? I see you have put just the pointer on its own, could you also add this into the middle of a "WOT?" so I can see what it looks like too? Look forward to seeing your next entry.
    • Thank you for feedback and ratings OKAY, i try.. THANKS :D

  • Nice idea here with the rainbow effect but I would try to go more in the direction of #24. I have also provided feedback to that entry too so you should be able to see this? If not, wait until #24 resubmits. Thanks.
  • Please check #25. I had some changes to my design and followed your new set of colours. Thanks
  • Hi there. Thanks for your entries. I really like #15! This is the style I am looking for and really like the font. I am about to attach a sample to the brief of an updated colour scheme and idea around the pin pointer. If you can improve on my image with some stars coming from the end of the pointer then this will be good! Thanks.
    • Dear CH Thomashegarty Thank you so much, i will give the best design for you :D any revision/suggestion would be helpful. THANKS .

  • Hi everyone. I have now updated the colours in the brief. I think these colours will look better. Please see the attachments I have added for the ideas I like. The "What'sOnThere.com" is the most important to formulate the logo but this can also be abbreviated to WOT as well. Thanks!
  • Hello. Thanks for this. Please see my previous feedback and the 2 new attachments I have added to the brief, where I have given an idea for some new colours and ideas. However I like the icons you have added although at the moment I am looking to get the logo finalised so perhaps the icons will be good later. Thanks,
    • Thank you so much. This is the first time I have had an active Contest Holder like you. I am so glad working with you.

    • I have question before working on the new idea I got. Which do you prefer to go with WOT or WHAT'SONTHERE.COM?

    • I guess the What'sOnThere.com is the main one to get right, but then whatever the text of this, it could be shortened to WOT. I would suggest using the O from the "On" to be a pin pointer. Please check the new colours I have added in the attachment too. Thanks

    • I got your idea. Thank you so much. I will work on the color. Do you open for a new set of colours?

    • I have now changed the colours in the brief as I think these will look better, however if you want to send me something with different colours feel free and I will give feedback. Thanks,

  • Thanks. This is getting better. Could you use the same colours as I have used, use capital letters for the first letter of each word and perhaps something at the end of the pin point? Perhaps stars like #15? I still also prefer the font style of #15. The icons are great, something that can be used for the rest of the site perhaps but not really for the main logo. Thanks,
    • No problem, I'll just put the icons anyway just in case you need them. I'll be submitting the revision shortly.

  • Hi everyone, thanks for all your entries so far. I have used them to develop my thoughts. My favourite so far is #15 as I want the logo to be clear and simple text but with some form of innovation. I like the pin pointer at the centre of the brand/logo but I have attached 2 new pictures to the brief with updated colours and ideas which I am really keen on. I would be keen on now just 4 colours, dark grey, pink, blue and light grey. The same idea can be used to do a shortened url of WOT? as well. Please send some updated ideas of higher quality versions of my attached images. Thanks,
  • Thanks for this. I like the ideas with this but the road and icons are something that I will be looking for through the site and not really for the main logo. I am firstly looking to get the logo right and have evolved my colour scheme. I would like a pin pointer to be the main focus of the brand. Have a look at the new attachment I have added to the brief which is what I am looking more for. Thanks,
