Design a t-shirt for Thoroughbred racing's Horse of the Year

This was a positive experience. Had many talented designers work on my design, and am just sorry that I could only select one. The designer I did select, Painted Pony, was great and I'd recommend her. Thanks!

Project description

Your challenge is to design the coolest t-shirt we've ever seen in Thoroughbred racing, befitting the 2011 Horse of the Year, Havre de Grace. Havre de Grace was named in January 2012 the 2011 Horse of the Year, the third consecutive female horse to be so named. This was the first time in history that three females won consecutive Horse of the Year championships. The most coveted and elite award in racing, the horse of the year is usually found among the best older males. Havre de Grace, or "Grace" as we call her around the barn, is an exceptional female racehorse. She became just the second female in history to win the prestigeous Woodward Stakes last year, beating the best older males in the process. We are looking for a t-shirt that both men and women will want to wear. Our stable colors, or "silks" (which are worn by the jockey) are red and white. Our t-shirt for last year was black, so this year I'm thinking we go with white. I want something unusual, and that may mean a print area that is different than the normal little square in the center of the chest. I would ask, though, that if you select an unusual print area, that you can give me some recommendations for printers/t-shirt companies which can print that design (should I have any difficulty finding such on my own). You may use the Google Images search ("Havre de Grace horse" as your search string) to find many photos of Grace as well as our "silks" colors worn by our jockey, and you may look up the old racetrack in Havre de Grace, Maryland, which is what we named her after, if that helps inspire you. The t-shirt should incorporate her name (Havre de Grace), her championship ("2011 Horse of the Year"), and our stable name ("Fox Hill Farm"). You may also want to incorporate the "slogan" for of "Amazing Grace!" Again, we want unusual without the design being in any way dark or too young for the many middle-aged and older men and women who buy our shirts. I look forward to seeing what you all create!

  • Thank you for the larger image!
  • Please see my comments on the other design submitted. I do thank you for your submission!
  • Thank you for your submission! It's a pretty design, but one I fear men will find too feminine to want to wear. Also, the horse graphics depict more of a generic horse instead of a racehorse.
  • I like this design. It's in the running. I will mull over some more if I'd like any changes. Can I see a larger image?
  • Hi Saturn. I will try to find site help to correct that. Thank you.
  • Hi Cath, you may use other colors. Thank you for your submission!
  • Thank you, but this isn't as unique as I'm looking for, wanting more pizazz.
  • Thank you, but Grace needs to be the centerpiece of the shirt, and overall design is not as unique as I'm looking for.
  • I have a question: can i use only colours which are written in the brief or can i add some another ones..?
  • Prefer the rider aboard in your other design.
  • I like this but prefer others. Thank you so much!

  • tbchampions, I can help with suggestions for digitally printing bulk order t-shirts (in regards to design #24), if you would so choose. Thank you for the feedback.
  • Prefer others, but thank you much for your time!
  • Prefer the balance of the other 3 designs better.
  • I prefer others, but I do thank you for your time!
  • I like the graphics, but not for this shirt, which really needs to be a representation of Grace. Thank you!.
