Winning design #22 by nathanh, Website Design for FUN! Design main page for an espionage-themed game site for kids Contest

Project description

This contest is to design one sample page for our site.

We are creating an espionage action/adventure-themed website for 8-12 year-olds, where they can play minigames and do creative activities. We're looking for a designer to work with, someone who has a sense of fun and creative visual flair, who can channel their inner 10-year old. This contest is for a proof-of-concept design -- we'd like to choose a winner we can then work with to create the full site design.

We'd like you to create the "secret agent's dashboard," the page on the site where the kid can see the various games and other options that are available to them. It should have a look-and-feel that communicates industrial-strength security, high-tech secrecy, cool gadgets, and other intrigue – the way you’d imagine the inside of an intelligence agency. Don’t worry so much about the exact content of the page – we’re more interested in seeing the style and visual creativity that you come up with, and the atmosphere you’re able to create.

  • I'd recommend re-reading the brief -- we're looking for a more industrial-themed, espionage style for the design.
  • I posted my design present childred playground , where kids can play games and draw what then want. Regards Alex
  • I will sumbit my design today
  • Dear CH, Here my very first entry (#3). Based on the concept of a Security/Spionage Case! Hope you like it! I Do! Best regards, -- jjy
  • Hi, here is a more refined / polished job. I am really enjoying this brief. Regards Nathan
  • Thanks for the positve response! I am refining this revised design and will have a more polished option today. Nathan
  • @bauer, we don't yet have a logo for the "spy organization", but it will probably be a CIA-like seal (similar to what's shown in designs #5 and #6)
  • @bernadette, the target age-group is 8-12 years old, both boys and girls. We don't have a logo for the "spy organization", but it will probably be a CIA-like seal (similar to what's shown in designs #5 and #6)
  • Hi, thanks for the submission -- we showed it to some sample users and their comments were that they wanted more of a "dashboard" than a suitcase, and they wanted something that looked "more realistic and real-world, less cartoon-like". Have a look at the comments on #6 for more detailed suggestions.
  • Hi, the users we showed this to liked this initial direction, though they were more excited about your submissions #5 and #6 (which they felt were more exciting / visually rich) – have a look at the comments on #6, which they liked best of all.
  • Hi, the users we showed this to really liked this initial direction – have a look at the comments for your other submission (#6), which they liked best of all.
  • GREAT initial vision -- we ran this by some users and they loved it, this was their favorite so far -- they liked (1) having a lot going on in the page, lots of visual excitement, (2) the multiple visual layers (like the big logo in the background), (3) the modular layout (this will make it easier for us to drop in various components). They comments that they wanted more visual realism – the different components on the page should look more like real-world objects, with edges that look more photo-realistic, and are made with different materials (textured metals and plastics, for example).

  • Hello Contest holder I'd like to ask about: 1- what's the age of kids your targeting? 2- do you have a logo? or you will create one later? thanks Bernadette
