Hi, my name is Barry. I have been a member of DC for years, but haven’t had any real active participation for almost just as long. I would like to return and become more involved as an elite designer here, so I’m posing my first required forum post as a question... The guidelines say, “All logo designs must be in vector format, and may not include any raster based elements.” That’s all well and good. I agree that all designs should be created as vector files for all the reasons mentioned throughout these forums... But here’s my question:

For initial contest display and presentation purposes, can we upload our entry submission as an un-editable .jpg or .pdf file? I think Angel mentioned somewhere that we can do this, but I’d like to have absolute clarification, because personally, I’d like to keep my original .ai or .eps vector file to myself until I know I’ve either won or lost the competition. If the client actually picks my design as a contest winner, I can certainly deliver the finals in any required file format necessary - including the original vector. When a design submission goes into the contest entry presentation thread, it gets rasterized anyway, right?

Either way, I want to follow the guidelines as laid out. so please let me know. Thanks!
:)Barry

good to know this info so that new designers have to have this application filled out then they are able to apply for projects that need to be apart of the approved design team!

Is this the case for all contests, including those that say open to all? If it is than I think the contest page of your sight is misleading, you may want to remove the open to all and replace it with open to all DesignContest designers. Otherwise those of us who are just looking around are waisting our time.

This is such a great site! Especially in this economy where competition is tough, it's nice to see exactly what the competition is doing and how you compare! Can't wait to get to enter!
