In a contest I noticed the green bars seem to indicate some type of rating. Here are my assumptions:

-The ratings are based on the CH preference

I'm confused about:

-The gray bar vs the green bar. For example in the Med Lab contest the one the CH said he liked the most has no green, but is almost full of dark gray.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I have to admit that che choice of green color is not very clear here, but the color we picked just happens to be green :)
the green bars mean that the CH requested a revision of the entry (and concequently the designer can upload one more design to the contest). It is as simple as that.

And why do some designs have longer green bars compared to others.

That is how the CH rates the entries. The longer the bar, the higher rating that entry has. Notice that those with longer bars are at the top of the page. Hope that helps. :)

That green bar will look grey if the contest holder doesn't want to see a revision, so it is a green bar for a revision and a grey bar for no revision "when the entry has been rated.

The contest holder can mark the entry I want to see a revision without rating as well and in that case there will not be a rated bar show up

My question and I just noticed is the green squares under our names in the forum and in our account area. They have comments when you move your mouse over them ... How do they get there?? AND why do some people have more than others. Please explain to the curious.

FYI the forum has really cleared up alot of questions I have had about the site.. THANKS

Those green jewels correspond with your designer points. The sayings are generated by the system (so many points = a certain saying or milestone per'se)So when your designer points rise your jewels will grow and change sayings as well as a brighter shade of green.

And in other websites they use these bars when you wrote a really useful thread so basically this is a common feature most of the community forum uses, but design contest port it with the contest/ch rate the more you do a design and a contest holder rate it the most you get a long green nice bars. Correct me if I'm wrong.
Cheers
