Logo sizes and slight distort on mouse over
Hi guys, it's always been a case for me to submit designs in 640*480, now this was a ruling somewhere...

Hi guys, it's always been a case for me to submit designs in 640*480, now this was a ruling somewhere I picked up, I do see larger sized files which my browser sort of distorts the larger image when I place my cursor over the thumbnail, should I be submitting a different sized file?
Is there now an 'any' size ruling but keeping below the file size (kb/mb) limit?
thanks muchly:rolleyes:

The preview size is always 640x480 for me; there's no distortion. What browser are you using?
Sometimes I submit larger designs if I feel the CH needs to see the details a little closer (especially if the design isn't a logo). But I always use a 4:3 ratio

Howzit HappyGD,
Firefox, just tried IE too, theres a slight rescale of the image that pops up in the window when mouse over the thumbnail, it's not a big issue to me but was wondering if the CH see's it this way also ?and this is why I never win (joke)
It's fine when I click on the thumbnail to preview the full image, but there is slight difference between the 2.
Thanks for the reply.

Below 2 posts of the images, first one is the screen-shot 100% jpg of when I mouse over the thumbnail.
2nd one is screenshot of the full size image in DC after I click on the thumbnail.
You should notice the pixel outlines of the first one around each vector has some slight distortion, doesn't show the outline so neat.

I did an overlay of the 2 screenshots in photoshop and there isn't any physical distortion that I can see. However your mouse-over-preview logo has much darker shadows than the screenshot2 logo, especially noticeable around the edges of the human figures and lettering. Interesting. It may have to do with an sRGB conversion, but I'm only guessing. Do you save your submissions with an sRGB color profile?
By the way, congrats on winning that contest

It's the same file that was submitted for both, it could be the file format it's submitted in, i'll have to recheck my settings, the files are always created in Fireworks then thrown into Illustrator if needed for the final files, so fireworks jpg's are set to 100% etc, i'm now starting to create everything in Illustrator from the beginning, just quicker for me to chuck everything in fireworks then tweak and position in AI, I got taught on Fireworks and Photoshop, Illustrator is very different so only just getting used to what everything does, but liking it.
I do see a few other contests where the thumbnail hovver preview is slight tinged and not the full preview in 640*480
Thanks for the congrats on the contest win, much needed.

I don't see a difference with any other of your work in your portfolioâ€â€mouse over previews and their larger versions are exactly the same. In fact, the design shown above is your only submission where the colours are a little off between the lightbox and larger version.
