If the client was out for 5 weeks (admins will wait as long as they can), the contest is considered abandoned. If it's guaranteed, the designers will vote among the rated entries. If it's not guaranteed, the prize money will be disbursed by 45$ among the highest rated designers.
Designers has 24 hours to submit the design. I'm guessing s/he will be notified if s/he surpasses the deadline.

I participated in a contest that had no guaranteed prize and I was second rated. I never got any money.
I've submitted designs in many contest that never selected a winner and got no message, only the icon on the design that allows me to withdraw my design. That's how I know the contest is abandoned.
