Both are good. Depend upon us in which software we can do better and how well we are comfortable.

LOGO design issues

If you understand that Logos MUST be vector files, there is no choice but Illustrator.

If you do not understand what I am saying, you are doomed as a logo designer.

If you cannot submit a vector EPS file in a logo design contest, you will not be paid by most crowd source sites.

Furthermore, Photoshop files are useless in many forms of reproduction, exposing your technical incompetence to the client.

A Photoshop EPS file with a clipping path is insufficient.

Sorry to be so harsh, but you need considerably more education to participate, no matter how creative you are.

There is no getting around this.

Some very smart people who drifted into graphics from programming have found this out the hard way. :)

Topics for your consideration:

scalability, optimized screen resolution

Vector/bitmap

Color modes: rgb/cmyk/spot   color gamut

Reproduction processes: CMYK process, spot color, grayscale, offset printing, web printing, silk screen, flexography, embroidery, video, vinyl signage.

Optimized reproduction on various electronic devices and smartphones

I sincerely hope that this post has been helpful and will also help you avoid catastrophic pitfalls in your graphic design future.

Thanks

Compare photoshop cs6 and abobe Illustrator cs6 softwares for logo designing. Which has  edge over the other..?

Hello,

Adobe Illustrator CS6 has the edge over Photoshop CS6 for logo design due to its vector-based workflow, scalability, and precision.

Here’s a quick comparison:

- Core Technology:
  - Illustrator CS6 uses vector graphics, ideal for logos that need to scale without losing quality.
  - Photoshop CS6* is raster-based, better suited for photo editing and pixel-level work, but not optimal for scalable branding assets.

- Scalability & Resolution:
  - Illustrator logos remain crisp at any size—perfect for print, web, and signage.
  - Photoshop logos may pixelate when resized, requiring careful resolution management.

- File Formats:
  - Illustrator supports AI, EPS, SVG, which are standard for professional logo delivery.
  - Photoshop outputs PSD, PNG, JPG, which are less flexible for print and vector workflows.

- Precision Tools:
  - Illustrator offers pen, shape, and pathfinder tools tailored for clean, geometric logo creation.
  - Photoshop’s tools are more geared toward effects, textures, and image manipulation.

- Text Handling:
  - Illustrator excels in typography control, kerning, and layout for logo text.
  - Photoshop has basic text tools but lacks advanced vector type features.

Conclusion: For professional, scalable, and print-ready logos, Illustrator CS6 is the preferred tool. Photoshop CS6 can assist with mockups or effects, but Illustrator is purpose-built for logo design.

Best Regards,
Donna Taylor
