Lately , there was some business card ,banner or poster contest and I was wondering,
as it's a definite size design requested, is it allowed to work with non vector software, photoshop for instance ?
I know CH can choose what format he wants, but as long as you get a 300dpi design with the right size, it shouldn't really matter ...
I'd like your opinion about that ..
vector or not ?

Hi Cobalt! Good question.
Yes, you can use non-vector design for certain contests. As you mention, a business card doesn't necessarily need to be scaled to a larger size, so creating it at full size, 300dpi, would be fine. Just remember for this type of contest, the CH will probably need to modify the information on the card at some point, so if you create it in photoshop, make sure to keep the layers separate and editable.
Further, web design, banner design, and certain other contests are not required to be in vector format.
The most important rule to remember is that logos must ALWAYS be created using vectors. Other designs are more flexible.

Leave the font..most of the time a psd id done with business card, just make sure the client has the info about the font used. if the card is made in illustrator go ahead and make two copies, one with font expanded out and the other leave intact with font info. Most EULA allow for business card use, flyers ect....The EULA is important to read with any font used and it is different for each font
