Sorry for revoking the thread... but it seems like it is never enough explaining of DC rules regarding background color and single design per canvas when submitting design.

We should all follow this very simple rules... if we actually red it at first place.

I was wondering - why do some designers mark "I confirm that I submit only single design per canvas" if there is more than 1 design?!
I guess, because they think (wich is actually part of the truth) one design in different color ranges, flat colors, blk/wht, size range, etc... IS 1 DESIGN.

Using background color... old story... But, it is bit confusing for newbies, I would say... some CH ask for certain color of background, well let be honest, usually white... And everyone submit white. But the catch is, regardless the DC rules, if CH doesn't specify the color, some designer think it's up to choice.
So my suggestion at this case to DC would be, to bring the mark button at submit form like "NO BACKGROUND COLOR".

Another suggestion...
How to explain the rules without being infracted? I was thinking that it would be a good idea to send e-mail short alert or reminder to all participiants about these rules... or any other you find to be most avoided.

What do you think?

:) you make some great points

The rules are simple but you have to read them first, many don't take the time to read them. What confuses me is a designer that has been a member for a long time here at DC all of sudden starts using backgrounds...why... I don't get it.

The ch has always had the option to choose a color if they want a background. Most contestholders want to see the design on plain white background. A design made for a certain color background limits it use for the client.

Designers using backgrounds do this for one main reason it makes the design look better! I had a designer come to chat asking about removing an entry, it had an error, I was about to remove it when I asked the designer some questions about the design. The design had a color gradient behind the design. I told this designer this will not be a good printed design with the gradient behind the graphic part. The designer replied but it doesn't look as good without the gradient color behind it.

My point exactly designers using backgrounds to make a design look better it unfair to the contestholder. A good design should stand on its own. Designers need to think about the different uses of a logo. will the design look good printed without that background? Just leave the background out of the design it is VERY simple thing to do if your design needs a background to make it look better then maybe you need to rethink the design

I absolutely agree with you... we had discuss this before.
Using background when CH doesn't require it, is cheating the client at first place.
But still, it bothers me, it is NOT a good feeling (I know, 'cause I did it several times) to report designers over it, specially when they are high rated or new members.
So, I suggested those few ideas to DC in order to try reduce rules violation, and make DC, OUR environment much better.

In recent I see many infractions happening even copyright issues. I would hate to see such a wonderful site get a bad rep from those bad apples.
