I think in a new version of DC should be implemented the 1st day (maybe two days) of the BLIND stage for ALL logo design contests. So during the first day of submission everyone is able to submit the concept he/she thinks might work and nobody can see them (including moderators, because in spite the fact they are honest and respect other design ideas they still became inspired by looking at the submitted entries). This stage will show what exactly is considered as a common concept and what's not. Moreover, such approach will limit the bad habit of protecting poorly executed ideas, where designers can work on them lately in the contest. After 1 or 2 days, contest become visible for all.

I think this is a great idea andit worths of consideration.

Thank you for your idea. I will pass this idea on to the developers. We already have many clients that pay to have contest run blind for 2-3 days then request for the contest to be un-blind............

This shouldn't be an option. This blind stage should be a MUST thing for all contests. Moreover, this thing shouldn't be a paid option since it's not for the Client, it's for designers; for the sake of fairness and creativity.

It's not our ultimate solution for copying, but it's a good one. The bad side is we need to be there ready and recruited.

BTW, it could be done in the following way also: if, let's say, less than 30 entries submitted the contest remains blind. If more than 30 entries submitted during the first couple hours the blind stage prolongs to the 1 day and so on... So there should be a certain correlation in this respect.

This sure is not a good idea. BLIND MEANS BLIND. There are already lotsa non-blinded contests to participate.

I think its a good idea most importantly to protect originality. Maybe we should also incorporate a mock up stage as well? I do like the blind contests except I can't see any other entrys. Other than that they are great...

I like the idea.
If it will be as an option I think there should be some info in the contest like - this contest was blind until #n entry. Imagine some designers will see it when it is not blind anymore and will see some entries with similar ideas and they can decide - "if 2-3 designers make same idea maybe I can make it too". This will help when reporting copies too.
Actually I think all contests that were blind and then non-blind should have that info - which was the last blind entry

Of course. All entries which were submitted during the blind face should be marked accordingly.

I love this idea. We are influenced both consciously and sub-consciously when we view others designs. Even as a designer, it would be nice to know that my first few designs have not been influenced (even without me realizing it) by others' work.
