I am not sure if there are allot of photographers here. And making photos needs allot of time. Most designers uses stock photo's. However I like making photographs and got special stuffs for it.

I don't think taking photos takes more time than designing a logotype for example. I agree though, that most designers use stock photos, as (in terms of time) it's cheaper. I wouldn't generalize though- by my experience, when looking for a specific photo it's sometimes easier to just go and shoot it yourself, than to spend hours browsing photo libraries.

I think it might be an good contest to try, if theres enough interest to organize it. And if there aren't that many photographers on here now maybe word will spread and more members will join :)

I would organize it but, im still new around here.
So idk, maybe the admin team will make an exception for this.
I took Photography classes, developing, perspective, lighting etc.

and if we do this contest, we can start like out own source photo section, so we can maybe use them for designing here.

I have been entering a photo contest for years.
It is is called "the everyman"
http://www.theeveryman.com/75.php
I love the way the way this contest is set up.
It is not alot of prize money, but doesn't really matter.

I don't know why i am telling everyone.
Because it is starting to grow out of control
and that makes it much harder each year
2004-I got honorable mention for Black&White category
2005-missed it unfortunately
2006-one of the best titles award
2007-one of the best titles award

Each year u can only enter two photos.
Which makes it almost impossible to choose
I think i waited 2 days before the deadline
I just couldn't decide.
This year i thought i had a shot with the funny title.
I wonder if having a funny title hurts your chances of winning best pic?
I will keep trying for best title i guess

Take some time to look at this site.
There are some really nice photos
I love this contest

what about even going as far as a photography contest where you edit the photo to fit a certain concept and mood.

I had no idea this site(theeveryman.com) existed until I came upon your response...I think its pretty cool that theres so many aspiring photographers out there and that they have a site that presents their ideas in a manner that both photographers and non-photographers can appreciate :D Thanks for sharing!!!

Could be interesting ... but the idea must be first accepted by the DC Staff.

I´m no photographer ... so I think there should be at least an amateur photography contest if the idea is well accepted, to not exclude us all from applying.

Good luck! :)
