Those aren't trends that just a list of thing you could ad to your website. Nothing new or special at all. PNG uses have been around for ages. Allot of standard stuffs in the list. Even I did a better web2009 trend list, and 2009 is all about introductions of the touch screens and pro touchscreen sites.

Hmm, some of these don't really seem like the future. They seem more like things that we'll have to continue enduring if nothing better comes along.

I think the only one of those is is sort of on the forefront is font replacement. At least it's semi new to me. The rest of it has all been done before. Whether or not it actually evolves into a trend in 09 is yet to be seen.

Still, it's always neat to read Smashing articles...it seems like there is always some sort of inspiring design in them.

dont u think it's coming to replace most of the current trends (already done partly)

it did existed for some years, doesn't mean that everyone knows about it yet
Web 2.0 is developing itself everyday, web 2.0 simply reflects current new technologies (like:touchscreens and similar technologies)
it's a new era!

i will write a thread to explain more what i'd like to say
