Hi! I have a question espacialy for the design team members but
everybody is welcome to anwser

What do you do with those hundreds of unused logos you submitted but weren't selected? I mean do you keep them to use in your portfolio of try to re-used them for another project?

I haven't been designing logos for to long and I already have a least 50 that are spleeping on my hard drive

Just curious to know... :D

yes, definitely, the best ones can be used in your portfolio. Personally I don't even have a portfolio website - too busy with the school and DC. But when I finally get myself to make the website, I will definitely use some ones that were not accepted.

I will also use logos that were not accepted by my direct clients (outside of DC) - when I work with a logo, I always present several ideas and I want to show that to my potential customers.

And I don't even need to mention that unused logos are a great library of graphic elements which can be recycled in the future work. Just for instance, Right now I am working on a logo for a company that designs and builds fireplaces and I have made tons of various flames to find he perfect one. I am absolutely sure that I might need those unused flames in the future.

I haven't recycled any parts of my unused logos yet but I'm glad to learn that someones else is. That's the reason I've kept my logos. not realy to reuse them but more to inspire myself. Looking for a colour combinasion or an element I just got right.

Waiting to hear from other disigners...

I have included "non selected" entries in the portfolio.. I also tend to create "symbols" out of some of the elements so I can use them in the future. This is for logo's that are NOT used, of course.

I never delete any of my work and it can come handy at any place.
I would also suggest you to preserve / backup your work.
